Milestone Research & Development agreement is expected to broaden economic ties between Israel & Japan

Japan and Israel signed a milestone Research and Development cooperation agreement on Sunday, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The agreement will reportedly supply funding for projects carried out jointly by companies and research centers in both countries.

“We continue our efforts to strengthen economic ties with the countries of East Asia, one manifestation of which is the agreement for parallel support of industrial R&D carried out jointly between Japan and Israel,” Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett was quoted as saying by the Post in response to news of the deal. Israeli police say 6 men have been arrested on suspicion of killing the Arab teenager, Mohammed Abu Khdeir, who was abducted last week for ‘nationalistic reasons’. They are not “Settlers” nor are they “Haredim” (ultra-Orthodox) as Palestinians hoped they would be.

Jerusalem – Israeli media speculated that the arrested men were already well known to the police and were linked to hooligans who support Beitar Jerusalem football club. Some Beitar fans are renowned for their hatred of Palestinians and have forced the club to reject the signing of Muslim players.

Forbes has listed 25 Israeli startups it says are changing industries. “Israel’s dynamic tech startup scene is no secret,” Forbes contributor Ilya Pozin writes.

“Innovation continues and a new crop of Israeli tech startups are on their way up, transforming healthcare, entertainment, finance, media and a myriad of other industries.”

Topping Pozin’s list is mobile printer developer Zuta Labs, which boasts a four-by-five-inch printer that will be available in January. Then comes open-source video platform developer Kaltura, and Yevvo, which bills itself as “the Twitter of live streaming,” Pozin writes.

Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) have arrested a taxi driver, 38, from the Arab town of Shefar’am, on suspicion that he carried out the murder for “nationalistic” reasons.

The suspect, named as Hassin Yousef Hassin Khalifah, admitted under police interrogation to committing the murder, and even reconstructed the crime for police. Continue Reading »

According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, IAF aircraft hit 10 targets in central and southern Gaza.

Czech Federation of Jewish Communities officials objected to the honor, claiming Gibson’s 2004 movie “The Passion of the Christ” portrayed Jews as “evil and blood-thirsty,” Bloomberg reported.

In 2006, Oscar winner Gibson was forced to apologize for anti-Semitic comments he made to a police officer who arrested him for drink driving in Malibu, California, The movie star and director accepted his remarks were “vitriolic and harmful.”

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) sharply criticized Israeli government policy on Saturday, insisting that it is responsible for the current salvo of rocket fire from Gaza.

“The policy of all governments since Hamas took power in Gaza is the wrong policy,” Katz began. “The security system has also become too conservative, and [neither] has come and taken revolutionary steps [to combat Hamas].”

One rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip at Beersheba on Saturday evening and was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.

The rocket fire in Beersheba was followed by an attack by Israel Air Force fighter jets on the rocket launcher that fired rockets at Ofakim. A direct hit was registered. Earlier, IAF planes attacked three terror targets in the southern Gaza Strip.
