CCTV footage has emerged which purportedly shows the moment 16-year-old Mohammed Abu-Khder was abducted on Tuesday night from the Arab neighborhood of Beit Hanina in Jerusalem, hours before his dead body was found burned in Jerusalem Forest.

Tel Aviv Municipality orders city’s supermarkets closed on Shabbat

 

Mini-markets & Supermarkets have received official written notices from Tev Aviv’s municipality warning them to remain closed on Saturday or risk fines & possible permanent closure.

Larger chains say they plan to stay open, business as usual.

IDF jails soldiers after public call for revenge in Jewish teens’ murder

“Vigilantes have no place in our democracy,” said the Israeli PM  Thursday evening at an Independence Day celebration at the home of the U.S. ambassador to Israel.

 

JERUSALEM  — Seven Israeli soldiers were sentenced to prison for posting photos calling for retaliation for the murder of three Israeli teenagers.

The military handed down a 10-day term for the soldiers on Thursday after they posted the photos on Facebook calling for revenge for the killing of Gilad Shaar, Naftali Fraenkel and Eyal Yifrach.

Thousands of Israelis, including active soldiers, have posted calls on social media calling for revenge, including a Facebook page with over 32,000 likes called “The People of Israel Demand Vengeance!”

At 4th of July celebration PM calls on Israel, whose “heart is hurting & blood is boiling,” to act and speak with restraint, especially since it’s only a few days after the burial of kidnapped teens, and rockets are falling on the South from Gaza.

 

As rockets and mortar shells continued to fall on Israel from Gaza on Thursday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned that if quiet in the region was not restored, than the beefed up IDF forces amassed there will act “with power.”

The survey, executed by the Cleantech Group and the World Wildlife Fund, was released at the end of June.

The report states that it “investigates the countries where entrepreneurial clean technology companies are most likely to emerge from over the next 10 years – and why.”

In an article posted in The Nation on Wednesday, Chomsky targets the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. He says that while there is international support exists for two of the movement’s main goals – ending the occupation of territories captured in the 1967 war and granting equal rights to Arab citizens of Israel, there is no significant support for its third objective – allowing Palestinian refugees to return to their homes in Israel.

According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, the airstrikes targeted concealed rocket launchers, training compounds and weapons storage sites, all of which belong to the Hamas terrorist group.

The statement said that the airstrikes were in retaliation for the latest escalation in rocket attacks on southern Israel.

“The IDF is prepared to defend the citizens of Israel from any threat and will continue to act decisively and as long as necessary until peace is restored,” said the IDF, noting that Hamas is directly responsible for the ongoing rocket fire. Continue Reading »

Portugal joined 6 European states advising against doing business beyond ’67 borders

Portugal joins after France, Spain & Italy’s similar warning last week, with Germany, Britain & the Netherlands doing so earlier.

Portugal joined six other European countries on Wednesday in warning its citizens against doing business beyond the Green Line, with another 10 European countries expected to issue similar recommendations by the end of the week.

The advisory, which appeared on Portugal’s Foreign Ministry website, employed similar language used by Spain and Italy last week in warning their nationals against doing business and investing in the West bank, east Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.

The most interesting conclusion of a recent survey of Israelis and the Internet, commissioned by Google from the Boston Consulting Group, is that Israeli online consumers value the Internet more than their counterparts in Europe and twice as much as their counterparts in the United States.

IAF strikes Gaza rocket-launchers as Hamas assaults Israel with more fire

The IAF responded quickly to seven mortars fired from Gaza Wednesday evening, striking rocket-launching terrorist cells in the southern Gaza Strip and continuing a general escalation in tensions since the bodies of three Israeli teenagers were discovered in the West Bank on Monday.
