A mortar shell fired into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip landed in the Eshkol Regional Council area on Tuesday morning.

Once AgainNo injuries or damage were reported in the attack.

IDF soldiers were operating in the area where the mortar shell landed near the Gaza border fence.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, a Palestinian terrorist was killed and four others were injured in an accidental explosion in Gaza City, the Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported. Continue Reading »

Report: Operation Pillar of Defense a Success – Fewer rockets fired at Israel

 

 

IDF proudly showcases Pillar of Defense achievements: 2013 sees substantially fewer rockets fired on Israel.

Hamas weakened due to regional circumstances with loss of capacity in terror organization.

Since the conclusion of Operation Pillar of Defense, aimed at restoring calm to the residents of southern Israel, 67 rockets and mortal shells were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel, and additional five rockets were fired from Sinai into Eilat. These figures compare to 641 launches aimed at Israel in the previous year.

Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired two rockets toward south Israel at dawn on Monday. A number of explosions were heard shortly after the “Color Red” siren warning of the incoming rockets sounded in communities located within the Ashkelon Beach Regional Council.

Gaza Rocket Shot as Southern Israel on Eve of Sukkot

Terrorists fired a rocket Tuesday morning from Hamas-controlled Gaza into southern Israel, as “peace talks” between the Palestinian Authority and Israel began in Washington.

Once AgainThe rocket exploded in an empty area within the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council. No one was hurt and no damage was reported.

Similar attacks took place July 21 and July 18.

Two rockets slammed into Israel’s southern region Wednesday morning, surprising residents who had no warning of the attack.

Once AgainThe Color Red incoming rocket alert siren somehow malfunctioning and did not activate, according to local sources in the area.

Miraculously, both short-range missiles reportedly exploded in open areas and did not damage property – nor was anyone physically injured.

A number of residents in the area were traumatized in the attack, however.

Local officials and psychotherapists are activating to take the routine steps to address the anxiety and stress resulting from the attack. Continue Reading »

Since Pillar of Defense, Hamas produced rockets capable of hitting Tel Aviv & J’lem

Army Radio reported that Hamas is producing M-75-type rockets, which were used during Operation Pillar of Defense to target Tel Aviv, greater Jerusalem area.

Hamas has succeeded in regaining some of its capabilities which Israel wiped out in last year’s Operation Pillar of Defense and has rockets capable of targeting the Gush Dan region of central Israel in which Tel Aviv is located, Army Radio reported on Monday.

It once again has thousands of short-range rockets – around 5,000 of them – and possesses medium-range rockets which can strike greater Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza fired at least seven rockets into southern Israel on Sunday night.

Once AgainAround 1:00 a.m., four rockets were fired towards the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. One of them may have been intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system, and the other three exploded in open areas. There were no physical injuries or damages.

Hamas tightened Gaza security with its Kassam Brigade to stop rocket fire

‘Asharq Al-Awsat’ reports Hamas deployed Kassam Brigade fighters to border, replacing local police in areas previously used for rocket launching at Israel.

Hamas has replaced policemen at the Gaza Strip border areas with fighters from its Kassam Brigades in an effort to stop rocket fire at southern Israel, the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat reported on Wednesday.

The paper quotes a Palestinian source as saying that Israel passed messages to Hamas through Egyptian mediators threatening to launch another large-scale operation in the Gaza Strip if the rocket fire doesn’t stop.Hamas’s Kassam Brigades have set up fixed and mobile roadblocks and have begun searching cars in areas near the border.
