Spanish courts nullify 2 anti-Israel resolutions passed by local municipalities

 

With Spain having the highest number of anti-Israel municipal rulings in Europe, Spanish Courts have begun to take a hard line against the BDS movement, as panels of judges in Barcelona & Valencia begin overturning those decisions to boycott Israel.

Judges in the Spanish cities of Valencia and Barcelona have overturned two anti-Israel decisions passed by Spanish municipalities under the auspices of the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement (BDS).

The decisions were passed by the local councils of Xeraco, south of Valencia, and Olesa de Montserrat, near Barcelona in the Catalon region.

Under pressure, SodaStream relocated from the West Bank to Israel’s Negev, employing Israeli Bedouin, when 600 Palestinians lost their jobs as a result of the move.

A Bloomberg expose published last week revealed that business is booming between Israel and many of its Arab neighbors, even if you can’t see it.

Arab countries are still careful not to make too much noise about their relations with Israel, lest they stir the wrath of a Muslim public that has been spoon-fed hate for the Jews for the past 65 years.

EU’s diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini: Boycotting Israel falls under ‘Freedom of Expression’

 

Palestinian BDS National Committee member, Riya Hassan welcomed Mogherini’s statement, saying that “We welcome the EU’s belated defense of the right of European and other citizens to stand in solidarity with Palestinian rights, including through BDS tactics.”

The European Union’s diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini has said that decisions by EU member countries to boycott Israel are protected as “freedom of expression” under the the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

#BDSfail: California follows New Jersey’s lead, passes anti-BDS law

 

This newest legislation, the second of its kind, prohibits all State of California bodies from maintaining ties with organizations (BDS) intended to penalize, inflict economic harm on, or otherwise limit commercial relations by singling out only the State of Israel.

The Israeli American Council marked a significant achievement this week when the California legislator passed a bill barring all state bodies, including universities, from maintaining ties with organizations that support anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions activities, Israel Hayom learned Thursday.

#BDSfail: Facebook Protest Forces Anti-Israel Billboard in Chicago Taken Down

 

Due to the collective response from Israel supporters, the billboard company relented and agreed on Friday to remove the discriminatory ad.

A massive online campaign demanding that a Chicago advertisement agency remove an offensive pro-BDS billboard calling on motorists boycott the Jewish state has borne fruits, as the agency eventually relented and agreed to take down the offensive sign.

Posted on the major highway I-294 by the Lamar Advertising agency, the huge billboard directed motorists to visit stopfundingapartheid.org, a rabid anti-Israeli organization. It read in massive letters: “Boycott Israel Until Palestinians Have Equal Rights.”

The French government firmly condemns boycotts of Israel, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls this week said, warning against the phenomenon of organizations criticizing Israeli policies turning to anti-Semitic activities.

The Guardian to publish BDS ad signed by 343 UK professors

Despite that academic boycotts do nothing to advance peace or improve the lives of Palestinians, and numerous  institutions are already reversing this anti-Israel trend, these UK professors prefer the publicity than seeking solutions through dialogue.

343 university professors from the United Kingdom signed a letter supporting an Israel boycott, and the letter is due to appear as a full-page advertisement in the British Guardian Tuesday.

Icelandic capital withdraws current boycott of Israel for revised version

 

Reykjavik mayor cancels ban on all Israeli-made goods, but plans to revise proposal for a version limited to all Israeli products from Judea and Samaria.

The capital of Iceland’s decision to ban Israeli products is to be withdrawn, Reykjavik Mayor Dagur Eggertsson told the Icelandic Broadcasting Service RÚV on Saturday, according to Iceland Magazine.

Iceland’s capital bans all goods from Jewish State 

 

In support of Palestinian claims of Israel’s ‘racist apartheid policies,’ Reykjavik city council has passed a resolution boycotting all Israeli-made products.

The city council of Icelandic capital Reykjavik has passed a resolution banning all Israeli-made products in protest of policy in the Palestinian territories.

The resolution was proposed by Councilwoman Björk Vilhelmsdóttir, who mentioned that she intends to spend the rest of the year doing humanitarian work in the Palestinian territories.

The resolution appears to be purely symbolic, since it didn’t mention specific companies or products, and it’s not clear if the Reykjavik municipal authorities have even had any business ties to Israeli companies –  or if they’ve been purchasing Israeli products – so far. Continue Reading »

SodaStream chief says BDS only had a ‘negligible’ impact on the beverage maker, noting the closure of the West Bank factory & expansion to the new Negev facility led to hundreds of Palestinians losing their jobs.

The chief executive of SodaStream, the beverage maker that is shuttering its West Bank factory in the face of international boycott calls, accused his company’s critics Wednesday of anti-Semitism and hurting the interests of the Palestinian workers they claim to protect.

Cllr Brendan Young (Independent) of Kildare County Council proposed a motion Monday 27th July to urge the Irish Army & Dep of Defense to stop importing military equipment from Israel. Kildare is home to Ireland’s largest military base.
