Israel Navy Destroys Weapons-Smuggling Vessel on Gaza Coast

4 Palestinian ‘fishermen’ are missing with a ship destroyed, in latest example of Hamas’s ‘marine intifada’ as IDF continues its blockade on weapons smuggling.

Gaza’s “marine intifada” has escalated further, AFP reports Monday, after the Israeli navy apprehended six fishermen who were smuggling weapons into Gaza from Egypt.

The Israeli navy fired on two boats off the coast, officials from the Hamas run security services told the news agency, leaving two fishermen wounded and four missing. It was not immediately clear whether the four had been arrested, the officials added.

The Israeli military confirmed that naval fire had destroyed one boat it said had been involved in smuggling, but had no information about the four fishermen reported missing. Continue Reading »

Israel Police and the Shabak (Israel Security Service) announced Thursday that it had arrested several Arab-Israelis who are accused of aiding and abetting Hezbollah terrorists. The investigation into the detainees went on for several months, and they were arrested on July 27, the announcement said.

UN REPORT: Experts Connect the ‘Klos C’ weapons ship to Iran

UN panel concludes that the shipment of weapons & explosives seized by the Israel Navy in March originated in Iran and was destined to Sudan, not Gaza.

A UN expert panel has concluded that a shipment of rockets and other weapons that was seized by Israel came from Iran and represents a violation of the UN arms embargo on Tehran, according to a confidential report obtained by Reuters on Friday.

The finding comes just days ahead of the next round of negotiations in Vienna between Iran and six world powers aimed at securing a deal that would gradually lift international sanctions on Tehran – including the arms embargo – in exchange for curbs on the controversial Iranian nuclear program. Syrian weapons transferred to Hezbollah during latest Gaza conflict

 

The Saudi Arabian daily Al Watan reported Saturday that Hezbollah received a shipment of medium-range missiles and other advanced weapons from Syria during the most recent round of violence a week and a half ago in the Gaza Strip, during which over 100 rockets were fired at Israel.

According to the report, Syria and Hezbollah exploited cloudy weather and the fact that the Israeli military had diverted its focus southward to retaliate against the rocket barrage from Gaza. Continue Reading »

Sudan says it foiled local spy-ring for Israel

 

According to a Sudanese reports, local informants gave Israel intel that facilitated in air-strike on Sudan in 2009 and again in 2012.

 

 

Sudan said Saturday night that it has arrested a ring of informants working on behalf of Israeli intelligence.

According to local reports, the Sudanese agents provided Israel with information that facilitated a 2009 attack on a weapons convoy and an airstrike on an arms factory in Khartoum in October 2012.

Israel seized an Iranian ship carrying advanced weapons destined for Gaza on Tuesday night and towed it to Eilat port, the IDF said Wednesday. Elite troops from the Israel Navy’s Shayetet 13 unit boarded the ship in open waters on the maritime border of Sudan and Eritrea, some 1,500 km south of Israel.

Iran and Syria are reportedly smuggling weapons to Hezbollah through Iraqi airports, to avoid IDF attacks on weapons convoys crossing the border from Syria to Lebanon, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Seyassah reported.

According to the report, this method of smuggling arms has been agreed on by the two sides two months ago.

Police swept into the Israeli Arab city of Kfar Kassem in central Israel early on Sunday morning and arrested 18 people in connection with a weapons smuggling ring.

Border police were involved in the operation, which followed an investigation into illegal weapons trade in the area.

Sixteen of those arrested are men in their 20s, and an additional two are minors, police said. Additional arrests are expected.

The report by the Al-Watan daily said the regime had made the move to avoid being  spotted,  moving the deadly weapons before the arrival of int’l inspectors.

A United Nations panel says weaponry from Libya is spreading across North Africa to Gaza and Syria “at an alarming rate.”

The five-expert committee said in a 94-page report sent Tuesday to the U.N. Security Council that illegal transfers of arms from Libya to armed groups and terrorists have been proven.
