Lockheed Martin opens research center in Israel

 

American concerns EMC & Lockheed Martin are looking to gain from the abundance of Israeli innovation in technological realm.

Initial investment to stand at $1 million.

American global aerospace, defense, security, and advanced technology company Lockheed Martin, maker of Israel’s F-16, F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, announced Sunday that it will open a research and development center in Israel in partnership with American IT storage company EMC.

The new center, which will be introduced Monday at the companies’ stand in Tel Aviv at the Cyber Tech 2014 conference, will be built in the new industrial park in Beersheba, focusing on cyber defense solutions.

Gaza Jihadists Produce 1st Domestic Missile Launcher

Gaza terrorists boasts of homemade anti-tank missile launcher, shows growing domestic military ‘industry’.

The “Mujahideen Brigades” in Gaza announced this week the launch of a new domestically-developed ATM (Anti-Tank Missile) launcher. Video released by the terror group shows a terrorist holding the new weapon and firing a missile.

Knesset Members mark Int’l Holocaust Remembrance Day at Auschwitz-Birkenau

Lawmakers from 13 countries join Israeli delegation at concentration camp in Poland which includes more than 250 people, including 60 MKs.

 

 

The largest-ever delegation of MKs, plus hundreds of Israelis and Jewish politicians from around the world are scheduled to head to Poland early Monday morning for a joint Israeli-Polish ceremony at Auschwitz-Birkenau on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Coalition chairman Yariv Levin (Likud Beytenu) and opposition leader Isaac Herzog (Labor) will lead the delegation, as Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein pulled out of the trip following the death of his wife on Friday.

“Seven decades after millions of members of our nation were cruelly murdered by the Nazis, it is my privilege and responsibility to lead the largest delegation of the Knesset, the parliament of the independent Jewish state, to the valley of death of Auschwitz-Birkenau,” Levin said Sunday. A Holocaust survivor dies every 45 minutes.

More than a thousand Holocaust survivors pass away every month, and the average age of those who live among us, some of them in extreme poverty, is 85 years of age, according to figures published Monday by the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel.

Thousands of Palestinian Arabs rallied in cities across the so-called “West Bank” on Saturday demanding that their leadership stop participating in US-brokered peace talks with Israel.

Organized by left-wing Palestinian political movements, the demonstrations lambasted US Secretary of State John Kerry’s peace proposals as legitimizing the “Israeli occupation,” according to Bethlehem’s Ma’an news agency.

The IDF released a video on Sunday showing how a crack combat engineering unit drills the takeover of an enemy position in built-up, urban environments.

The unit, known as Combat Engineering Battalion 601, can be seen planning and executing a simulated nighttime raid in the sort of fighting that Israel can expect to see during the next tussle with the Lebanon-based Shi’ite guerilla organization.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, his wife Sarah and members of the staff of the Prime Minister’s Office who are currently visiting Davos, Switzerland, chose to respect the Sabbath and walk back to their hotel from the Friday evening ‘kabbalat shabbat’ reception held in their honor by the Jewish community of Davos.

Netanyahu had been driven to the hotel that hosted the ceremony before the Sabbath began.
