Israeli Minister Says Time to Target Hamas Leaders & Cut Aid to Gaza

Israel’s Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz blasts Jerusalem for ‘wrong policies,’ urges it to do ‘what needs to be done’ to Hamas.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) sharply criticized Israeli government policy on Saturday, insisting that it is responsible for the current salvo of rocket fire from Gaza.

“The policy of all governments since Hamas took power in Gaza is the wrong policy,” Katz began. “The security system has also become too conservative, and [neither] has come and taken revolutionary steps [to combat Hamas].”

“This has been driving the political leadership over the years, this is what has been driving state policy over the years, and this government is not doing what it needs to,” he added. Continue Reading »

After continuous rocket fire at southern Israel, IAF hit 3 terror targets at the southern Gaza Strip, earlier.

One rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip at Beersheba on Saturday evening and was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.

The rocket fire in Beersheba was followed by an attack by Israel Air Force fighter jets on the rocket launcher that fired rockets at Ofakim. A direct hit was registered. Earlier, IAF planes attacked three terror targets in the southern Gaza Strip.

“The IDF is ready and prepared to defend the citizens of Israel from any threat and will continue acting determinedly and for as long as it takes until calm is restored,” a statement from the army said. Continue Reading »

Riots break out in Jerusalem as Muhammad Hussein Abu Khdeir, the Arab teen killed in possible pay-back attack for the kidnapping/murder of 3 Israeli teens, is laid to rest.

Violent protests by Palestinians broke out in Jerusalem Friday as a Palestinian youth some believe was killed by far-right Israelis was laid to rest. Reports from the field indicated that 35 people were lightly injured after heavy clashes with police who initiated riot control measures to disperse the violent crowd.

Tel Aviv Municipality orders city’s supermarkets closed on Shabbat

IDF jails soldiers after public call for revenge in Jewish teens’ murder

“Vigilantes have no place in our democracy,” said the Israeli PM  Thursday evening at an Independence Day celebration at the home of the U.S. ambassador to Israel.

 

JERUSALEM  — Seven Israeli soldiers were sentenced to prison for posting photos calling for retaliation for the murder of three Israeli teenagers.

The military handed down a 10-day term for the soldiers on Thursday after they posted the photos on Facebook calling for revenge for the killing of Gilad Shaar, Naftali Fraenkel and Eyal Yifrach.

Thousands of Israelis, including active soldiers, have posted calls on social media calling for revenge, including a Facebook page with over 32,000 likes called “The People of Israel Demand Vengeance!”

The survey, executed by the Cleantech Group and the World Wildlife Fund, was released at the end of June.

The report states that it “investigates the countries where entrepreneurial clean technology companies are most likely to emerge from over the next 10 years – and why.”

A Syrian-Jewish family has been secretly smuggled into Israel and out of harms way in a dramatic rescue operation, it was cleared for publication Thursday.
