IDF artillery pounds Lebanon after Hezbollah explodes bomb on border with Israel

 

Hezbollah quickly claimed responsibility for activating explosive device near the Chebaa Farms in revenge for the death of Samir Kuntar, with Lebanese security forces reporting at least 50 Israeli shells hitting villages in the area.

A large roadside bomb exploded near an IDF force at the Lebanese border near the Shebaa Farms area on Monday afternoon, leading the IDF to fire artillery shells at Hezbollah targets in the area for about an hour.

Israel Demolishes East Jerusalem Homes of 2 Murdering Palestinian Terrorists

 

Israeli PM Netanyahu vowed to expedite punitive house demolitions in the West Bank & Jerusalem, saying doing so “one of the most efficient tools” in discouraging Palestinian terrorist attacks.

Israeli forces on Monday destroyed the east Jerusalem homes of two Palestinians who killed four Israelis in one of the deadliest days in the recent surge in violence.

In the neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, the home of Palestinian Alaa Abu Jamal was filled with concrete and sealed off, an AFP reporter at the scene said.

Abu Jamal had on October 13 rammed his car into people at a Jerusalem bus stop and jumped out with a knife, stabbing a rabbi to death before being shot dead. Continue Reading »

“State of Palestine” recognition ratified by Vatican

 

Much like Israel and the Oslo accords, the Vatican signed a treaty recognizing the ‘State of Palestine’ last June as a sign of supporting the 2-state solution, in hopes the move would protect the Palestinian Christians as Pope Francis is eager to have a greater diplomatic role in the Middle East.

Former Israeli President, Shimon Peres has been nominated for the Tipperary International Peace Award.

 
Peres who was President of Israel until 2014, has been shortlisted for the award along with the Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, Peter Robinson; the Former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson; German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the US Secretary of State, John Kerry.
The Tipperary Peace Convention has stated that the winner will be announced in the coming days.

In response to Friday night’s firing of rockets on southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, the Israel Air Force attacked early on Saturday morning two military installations and two terrorist infrastructure targets belonging to Hamas in the coastal territory.

4 Gaza rockets fired at Israel, 2 fall inside Gaza & explode, 2 fall in open area in Israel

 

No injuries reported on the Israeli side after an unusually high number of Kasam rockets were fired in a single volley from Gaza on Friday evening, with only 2 falling in Israel and at least 2 more falling short and exploding inside the Gaza Strip.

Archaeological dig in central Israel unearths 2700 yr-old farm with 1,500 yr-old Byzantine church

A community excavation overseen by the Antiquities Authority in the center of the country has unearthed a rare and well-preserved 2,700-year-old farmhouse and 1,500-year-old church featuring colorful mosaics and numerous Greek inscriptions, the authority announced on Wednesday.

The findings were discovered during an excavation in Rosh Ha’ayin initiated by the Construction Ministry in coordination with the city’s municipality prior to building new neighborhoods in the area.

“So far, scores of teenagers from preparatory programs and youth villages have participated in the excavation, as part of the Israel Antiquities Authority policy of increasing public awareness of our cultural heritage,” the authority said in a statement. Continue Reading »

Two people have been killed and nine others injured in a shooting along Tel Aviv’s Dizengoff Street.

Magen David Adom paramedics at the scene provided first aid treatment to four seriously injured victims – including two in critical condition – and three in moderate condition, as well as the fatally injured victim, who they were forced to pronounce dead at the scene.

IDF reservists request permission to sue ‘Breaking the Silence’ for libel & slander

 

A group of IDF soldiers & officer, Reservists at the Front, has been working conscientious to collect facts to confirm for a court, that Breaking the Silence “twists, manipulates & sometimes lies” which libels them.
• Since the litigants are still active IDF reservists, the group needs approval from the attorney general to proceed.

Several hundred IDF combat reservists and officers who organized a committee titled Reservists at the Front are currently working to file a slander lawsuit against the nongovernmental organization Breaking the Silence, which publishes testimonies, often anonymous, about alleged IDF misdeeds. Israeli End of the Year Poll: Putin takes top spot, Obama captures a mere 2% for 2015

 

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin is Israelis’ person of the year, according to a Panels Research poll taken for The Jerusalem Post and its Hebrew sister publication Ma’ariv Sof Hashavua.
