Deal: Israel gives Palestinian Authority control of West Bank power grid

 

In a plan to get the Palestinians to pay their $500.8 million electric bill, US taxpayer will pay $25.4 million of their bill, and the Israel Electric Corporation will transfer control of the West Bank electric grid to the Palestinian Authority.

A deal was signed whereby the Palestinian electrical grid will now be the responsibility of the Palestinian Authority on Tuesday, ensuring that the Palestinians pay their NIS2 billion debt to the Israeli Electric Corporation. The agreement will see a half billion shekels of the debt forgiven.The agreement was signed by the Head of the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) General Yoav “Poli” Mordechai in the presence of Minister of Finance Moshe Kahlon, Finance Ministry Director General Shai Babed, and the PA Minister of Civil Affairs Hussain al-Sheikh. Millennium old Jewish manuscripts from Afghanistan donated to Israel

 

The rare findings from an ancient Afghan Jewish community, and written in Persian, Arabic, Aramaic, and Judeo-Persian, was donated to the Israeli National Library and will soon be digitized, making it available to the international community of scholars and the general public.

IAF jets attacked Syrian regime cannons on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights

 

A military source stated that Tuesday’s mortar fire may likely have been accidental spillover from battles between Assad regime forces & rebels in Syria’s civil war, but Israel will always respond to military attacks against its sovereignty.

The Israeli Air Force struck cannons belonging to the Syrian regime late Tuesday evening in response to a number of mortar rounds that fell into Golan Heights just hours earlier, according to a military statement.

Hamas rejects offer to accept prisoners for Israel’s MIA soldiers

Lior Lotan, the prime minister’s envoy on hostages and missing persons, said on Tuesday that Hamas has rejected several offers to swap all of its men captured—both dead and alive—during Operation Protective Edge in exchange for the remains of Israeli soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul.

WATCH: Ofek 11 recon satellite launched into space from Israel

Israel denies losing fighter-jets or UAV after retaliatory strike in Syria

All aircrafts returned safely, the IDF spokesperson said. “Israeli aircraft were not close to the source of the fire, and the missiles never threatened their target [the Israeli] aircraft.”

The Syrian military said it shot down two Israeli military aircraft, including a drone, Tuesday morning, alleging they attacked a government-held position in the country’s south.

“Our air defenses blocked the attack and shot down the military aircraft in (the southern province of) Quneitra and a drone” in the Golan area said the statement carried by state news agency SANA.

Shortly thereafter, however, an IDF spokesperson denied the claims, saying that no manned Israeli aircraft or drones had been downed.

Facebook cooperates with the authorities the vast majority of the time the government asks the network to remove content inciting to terrorism, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked said Monday, shortly after she and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan met with a senior delegation from the social media giant.
