Iran has made itself into a ‘DESERT OF HATE’

 

After years of drought, the water-starved country’s hateful politics can’t allow it to turn to the one country that could really save it.

 

Iran’s pistachio farms are dying of thirst.

That may not, in itself, seem like major news. But it has a greater significance.

After crude oil, pistachio nuts are Iran’s biggest export, with only the United States producing more. Yet a drought lasting years, along with uncontrolled pumping of water by farmers, has created a situation where the pistachio crop is drying up.

In Kerman province in southern Iran, cities have grown rich from pistachios,
but time is running out for the industry.

US blacklists senior Hamas official

 

The US State Department adds Fathi Hammad, a former Hamas interior minister, to its “global terrorist” blacklist.

The United States on Friday added senior Hamas member Fathi Hammad to its “global terrorist” list, AFP reports.

Hammad in the past served as Hamas’s interior minister.

Hamas, the terrorist group which controls Gaza, has already itself been proscribed by the United States as a “foreign terrorist organization.”

Under the new designation, U.S. citizens and companies will be banned from doing business with Hammad and any property he holds in areas under U.S. jurisdiction will be frozen.

According to the State Department, which issued the designation, as interior minister Hammad used his position to “coordinate terrorist cells.” Continue Reading »

World experts met in Israel to discuss terrorism and social media

 

Counter-terrorism experts from all over the world who met in Israel this week suggest compiling a list of keywords used on social media that would serve as red flags of terrorist inclinations.

‘Women’s flotilla’ to Gaza blames Israel for boats’ delay

 

The entire flotilla of 2 small vessels, carrying a few dozen women who plan on breaching Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, had their departure delayed by the police, and a bad engine.

The flotilla to Gaza, which was set to arrive in early October carrying 30 women from around the world on two ships, got off to a late start.

One of the ships, the Amal (Hope) was forced to turn back after facing engine trouble. The second ship, the Zaytouna (Olive), set off only late in the afternoon after being delayed for many hours by local Italian police. Continue Reading »

2 terrorists neutralized by IDF gunfire during attempted vehicular attack in Judea

 

IDF Spokesperson reports of no injuries except to the male & female Palestinian terrorists who were neutralized, as they attempted to run over Israeli civilians at a bus-stop at the Elias Junction outside of Kiryat Arba.

Two terrorists attempted to carry out a vehicular attack with a pickup truck on Friday afternoon at the Elias Junction, outside the entrance to Kiryat Arba.

The IDF Spokesperson reported that the terrorists, a man and a woman, were neutralized with gunfire from IDF forces and were critically wounded.

An Arab terrorist from Jordan was neutralized Friday by Israel Police during a stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem.

An Arab terrorist tried today, Friday, to commit a stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem, when he was killed by police.

UN Chief rebukes Netanyahu ‘ethnic cleansing’ remark as “unacceptable & outrageous”

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed his deep concern over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent remarks, in which he described Palestinian President Mahnoud Abbas’ refusal to allow Jews to live in a future Palestinian state as “ethnic cleansing”.

Interpreting abbas-advocating-apartheidNetanyahu’s words to mean that anyone who opposes expanding the settlements supports the ethnic cleansing of Israelis, Ban stated that his response to Abbas was “unacceptable and outrageous,”.

Flotilla of women set sail from Barcelona to Gaza

A new women’s flotilla aimed at violating the Israeli naval blockade on Gaza left on Wednesday from the Spanish city of Barcelona, Al Jazeera reported.

Two sailing boats, Amal and Zaytouna, with 11 women on board each, sailed off under the banner “The Women’s Boat to Gaza”, according to the report.

World Bank: Less than half of humanitarian aid to Gaza reach its destination

 

The World Bank reported that int’l donor support is a must to maintain Palestinian budget-cutting to stave off probable crisis, and their economy will remain hobbled as long as the conflict with Israel continues.

Less than half the $3.5 billion donors have pledged to aid with reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip following the 2014 war has been disbursed, according to the World Bank.

The World Bank added that international donor support is a must to maintain Palestinian budget-cutting achievements and stave off crisis.

It said in the report that over the past 10 years the Palestinian Authority had slashed its deficit by an amount equal to 15 percent of its Gross Domestic Product, “an achievement rarely seen in other places around the world.” Continue Reading »

1st century gold coin with Nero’s image found in Jerusalem dig

A rare, well-preserved gold coin struck in 56-57 CE, bearing the image of Roman Emperor Nero, was found by archeologists from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte during a recent excavation on Jerusalem’s Mount Zion, just outside the Old City, it was announced Wednesday.

Israel Air Force hits multiple Hamas targets in Gaza after mortar attack on southern Israel

 

IAF jets launch reprisal attacks overnight, taking out 3 Hamas terror targets after a mortar shell fired from Gaza explodes in southern Israel Wednesday evening.

The IDF launched a fresh wave of airstrikes overnight Wednesday against three Hamas terror targets in the Gaza Strip. The move comes as a retaliation for the firing of artillery shells on the Eshkol Regional Council late Wednesday.

The IDF spokesperson’s Unit said that it held Hamas exclusively responsible for all activities in the strip and would continue to operate in a determined manner in order to maintain peace and quiet for Israel’s southern residents

The mortar shells exploded near the border fence shortly before midnight Wednesday but no red alert siren was sounded.

France reprimanded for part in illegal construction in Israel

A French opposition MP, who’s a top counter-terror expert, advocates adopting a controversial Israel-style administrative detention to deter terrorism, as France is faced with new terror threats.

A top French counter-terror expert dropped a political bombshell Wednesday saying “we need to have administrative detention” and adding that he will visit Israel’s detention center at Ofer Prison as a potential future model.

The official, French opposition MP Georges Fenech made the surprising comments at the IDC Herzliya Conference on Counter-Terrorism on the university’s campus.
