Toronto transit rejects ‘inaccurate’ anti-Israel promo ads for buses

‘The Toronto Transit Commission has not allowed itself to fall prey to the false anti-Israel propaganda campaign,’ B’nai Brith Canada said.

TORONTO — The Toronto Transit Commission rejected four anti-Israel advertisements for being “inaccurate and misleading.”

disapearing palistineBrad Ross, a spokesman for the transit commission, told JTA on Monday that the ads were turned down because they were “inaccurate and misleading.” The ads were intended to run on buses and subways, as well as the commission’s shelters.

Proposed by the Montreal-based Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East, the ads were similar to the “Disappearing Palestine” ad that ran this summer in Vancouver’s transit system.

Toronto Star Columnist Promotes Jesus as Palestinian

By deceivingly portraying Jesus as a Palestinian martyr, Star columnist Ken Gallinger’s commentary, an attempt to invent a Palestinian history, was tantamount to historical revisionism.

Anti-Israel adherents continue to peddle the fiction that Jesus was a “Palestinian” who preached Islam.

According to Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), “One of the ways the Palestinian Authority attempts to create a Palestinian history is to deny the Judean/Jewish nationality of Jesus, and misrepresent him as a ‘Palestinian.’”

There exists a very real “history war” whereby Jewish history is being erased and replaced with an invented Palestinian history. According to PMW: “As part of its ongoing attempt to invent a Palestinian history, the Palestinian Authority tries to hitch a ride into the past with Jesus.

Irish journalist dons kippa to assess anti-Semitism in Sweden

 

“As an Irish person abroad I’ve never felt remotely threatened but wearing the kippa for a few hours was enough to instill feelings of fear,” writes Patrick Reilly.

 

 

An Irish journalist donned a kippa for a day in the southern Swedish city of Malmo, in an effort to experience what it might be like for Jews there, who have been known to suffer from anti-Semitism, The Local reported last week.

NEW YORK – UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon praised the American Jewish community for its partnership in fighting injustice while stressing the need to “stand strong against extremists,” while speaking in New York Tuesday night.

Jewish Newlyweds Shocked to Get Anti-Semitic Wedding Video

Jewish newlyweds in the UK were shocked at the audio track of their wedding film that was pitted with anti-Semitic comments from the videographer & his assistant.

A Jewish couple have received their wedding video, complete with a highly distasteful anti Semitic diatribe filling its audio track.

The shocking story appeared in this week edition of the British Jewish Chronicle.

The newspaper reported how Londoners Claudia and Stan Gocman, were first made to wait nine months before a poorly edited video of their wedding arrived. Council of Europe: Religious Circumcisions are Legal

The head of the Council of Europe responds to Israel’s President Shimon Peres’s letter, assuring him there’s no law banning male circumcision.

President Shimon Peres was assured on Wednesday that there is no binding law banning male circumcision in Europe for religious reasons.

The head of the Council of Europe, Thorbjorn Jagland, responded to a letter Peres had sent earlier in the week, urging the council to reconsider a resolution it adopted against circumcision.

Israel asks Council of Europe to cancel anti-circumcision resolution

“For the Jewish people, this is a path that stood the test of thousands of years, and now the Council of Europe is trying to erase it.”

 

 

Israel on Friday called on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to annul a resolution it passed on Tuesday against circumcision, calling it a “moral stain” on the Council.

“Circumcision of male children is an ancient religious tradition of two important religions, Judaism and Islam, and it is also common among some Christian circles,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

European Council Wants Ban on Circumcision

Calling circumcision of children a violation of human rights, the European Council calls for a legal ban until age 15.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a pan-European group, has passed a resolution condemning circumcision of children as a violation of human rights, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) reports.

The resolution passed with 78 in favor to just 13 against. Fifteen people abstained from the vote.

Female IDF soldier recites blessings over Torah in IDF synagogue

 

For the 1st time on a Simchat Torah holiday in an IDF synagogue, a Female soldier was called to recite blessings over Torah portion.

A religiously observant female soldier was called to the Torah last week during Simchat Torah services, setting a precedent for the IDF. The soldier received what is known as an aliyah to the Torah, during which she recited a blessing over a Torah portion — a custom that is typically reserved for men in mainstream Orthodox synagogues. The incident sparked a firestorm on a base where many Orthodox soldiers were serving.

India Arrests Terrorist Planning New Mumbai Attack

Israel TV-2 reports Global Jihad terrorist has been arrested by Indian authorities. India has Heightened security alert around possible Jewish targets.

Channel 2‘s website says that Indian security forces have arrested a Global Jihad terrorist who they believe planned to carry out terror attacks against Jewish targets in India. The investigation revealed that he is part of a cell that planned terror attacks in Mumbai and other locations. Chabad houses were reportedly on the list of planned targets.

The report has not been corroborated by other news sources.

According to the report, there are terror alerts regarding two possible targets on the island of Goa, which is very popular with Israelis, especially in the October “party season”: a beach town named Anjuna and a nearby resort village named Arambul. Continue Reading »

US Holocaust museum agrees to return barracks to Poland

The barracks were borrowed by the Holocaust Museum in 1989. In 2003, Poland passed a law that historical artifacts cannot be loaned for more than 5 years.

 

WARSAW, Poland — The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington will return a section of wooden barracks which was given on long-term loan by the Auschwitz Museum 24 years ago.

The barracks, the centerpiece of the U.S. Holocaust Museum’s permanent collection, will be replaced by another set from Birkenau, which will be owned by the museum.

The exhibition containing the barracks, half of a wooden building in which Jewish prisoners slept while imprisoned in the death camp, will be closed for five months beginning on Tuesday to allow for the removal of the old barracks and the installation of the new ones.
