New Delhi police detain suspicious man eying Israeli embassy

 

According to Indian news service, the suspicious man tried running away when  approached by Israel’s embassy security personnel.

 

New Delhi police detained a 45-year-old man after “he failed to give a proper reason for loitering around the Israel embassy in the national capital’s high security area” on Wednesday, the Indo Asian News Service reported.

The man, who was spotted outside the embassy around noon, started running after security personnel asked him what he was doing, according to the news service.

At TV Hall of Fame Induction, Bill Maher says Jay Leno is like Israel

Jay Leno’s induction to the TV Hall of Fame on Tuesday was preceded by a spirited and vaguely controversial introduction from Bill Maher, who compared the former “Tonight Show” host to a a small Middle Eastern country some of you may have heard of.

Tunisia port dropped by Norwegian Cruise Lines over anti-Israeli discrimination

Norwegian Cruise Lines dropped Tunisia from its itineraries after the country refused to allow Israeli citizens to disembark in the Port of Tunis.

About 20 Israelis were quietly told before disembarking from the Norwegian Jade over the weekend that they were not welcome per the Tunisian government.

The cruise line’s decision to drop Tunisia was first reported by Cruise Critic, an online cruise information site.

Prior to ‘Monuments Men’ hits French screens, France to return Nazi-looted art

Although, 3 masterpieces are being returned, about 2,000 works whose owners have not been identified, are still being held by French museums.

Ahead of the French premiere of “The Monuments Men,” France said it will return three precious paintings to the heirs of their owners.

The paintings are to be returned Tuesday, one day before the film on Nazi-looted art starring George Clooney debuts in France.

The conjunction of the two events is “an opportunity to remind people that Culture Minister Aurelie Flipetti is very attached to this gesture of remembrance,” France’s Culture Ministry told the French news agency AFP on Saturday.

Cruise ship captain acquiesced: Israelis barred from entering Tunis

 

Non-Israeli Jewish passenger were allowed to disembark and that the ship personnel kept it all a secret.

 

Israeli tourists aboard a Norwegian cruise ship were barred from disembarking in the Port of Tunis Sunday. They were forced to remain on the “Norwegian Jade”, while non-Israeli Jewish passengers were allowed off.

A Jewish Canadian passenger on the ship who preferred to remain nameless told Haaretz that there were approximately 20 Israelis on the ship and that at first, no one knew they were denied entry because “the ship kept it a secret.”

Injured Ukrainians flown to Israel for medical treatment

 

9 injured Ukrainian citizens were flown to Israel by the Jewish community of Ukraine, to receive medical care.

Nine Ukrainian citizens landed Friday night at Ben Gurion International Airport and transferred to Israeli medical centers for treatment.

Earlier in the day, Russian news agency Interfax reported they were evacuated and will be treated at Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot and Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem. The hospitals have confirmed the reports.

The United Hatzalah and ZAKA rescue organizations are training Jews in Kiev’s Hatzalah so they can respond to mass casualty emergencies in the troubled and violent Ukraine if the crisis escalates.

Canada has formally recognized the plight of Jewish refugees from Arab lands.

On Monday, Ottawa accepted a report tabled last year that called on the federal government to “officially recognize the experience of Jewish refugees who were displaced from states in the Middle East and North Africa after 1948.”

The federal cabinet approved the report March 3, according to the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA).
