IDF reservists attack Oscar-nominated film as ‘incitement’
Pro-IDF group produces “5 Broken Cameras — The Real Story” to expose the blatant bias of the directors & some in the movie industry against Israel.
NGO chief: We want the creators of the film charged with incitement.

The Israeli NGO Consensus recently launched an online campaign to present a counter-narrative to what it calls “the ongoing incitement against IDF soldiers in the movie ‘5 Broken Cameras,'” as stated by the organization in a statement Sunday.

Consensus, which describes its activists as “Guardians of the IDF spirit,” claims to be a non-political organization; its membership is comprised of hundreds of reserve and non-commissioned IDF officers.

Israel sent messages to Ankara over the last two weeks that it is interested in creating a more “positive dynamic” in its badly strained relationship with Turkey so the two countries can work together to further common interests, government officials said Sunday.
It is widely expected that Kerry will raise the issue of ties with Israel during his talks with Turkish leaders in Ankara.
The US has long been pressing both Ankara and Jerusalem to take steps to improve relations that went into a nosedive following the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident.

Against the backdrop of the difficult coalition negotiations, Habayit Hayehudi leader Naftali Bennett offered his take on the complicated relations with the ruling Likud-Beiteinu party and his alliance with Yesh Atid Chairman Yair Lapid.
Bennett wrote on Facebook Sunday that the alliance is meant to prevent the establishment of a government without the religious Zionists that would make concessions to the Palestinians during peace negotiations.
Without Habayit Hayehudi or Yesh Atid, which won a combined 31 mandates in the January elections, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have difficulties forming a new coalition. Continue Reading »

IDF Officer Busted for Permitting ‘Harlem Shake’ Video Upload
Company commander received a 21 days jail sentence, and the cameraman gets 14 days for lewd video that “runs against IDF values.”

The commander of the Keren battalion in the Artillery Corps court-martialed an officer and an enlisted man under his command for recording and uploading a short video of soldiers performing the “Harlem Shake.”
Channel 2 reported that the company commander who authorized the uploading of the video to the internet received a 21-day jail sentence and was dismissed from his command position.

Best friends from New York successfully complete IDF training together

A year ago, they both flew to Israel to enlist in the Israel Defense Forces as lone soldiers. Last week, Corporals David Aharon, 18, and David Cohen, 18, completed nearly a year of rigorous training and joined the ranks of the illustrious Golani Infantry Brigade.

Purim’s carnival atmosphere spread out across the country on Sunday, with revelers of all types and ages soaking up the holiday cheer, many bedecked in bright, loud and extravagant costumes.

As in every year, traditional ‘Adloyada’ Purim parades were held the length and breadth of Israel in cities and towns throughout the country, wending their way through town centers and major urban thoroughfares.
Holon’s Ad’deloyada, one of the most renowned, included more than 4,500 participants making merry, including dancers, artists, musicians and other performers from around the country who all marched through the streets of the city.

Israeli Student Delegation Off to Africa to Eliminate Tropical Diseases
Many diseases the western world considers extinct are still very much a problem in 3rd world countries. A delegation of 9 students from Ben Gurion University was sent to Makele, Ethiopia, to take part in an extensive educational medical program which aims to eliminate neglected tropical diseases.
The program is led by Professor Zvi Bentwich and is being implemented by the Faculty of Health Science’s Center for Emerging Diseases, Tropical Diseases and AIDS (CEMTA) with the assistance of other bodies, including UN organizations, local government agencies and the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
