Israel’s construction & engineering delegation continues search effort in Mexico

Israeli engineers are surveying buildings in the Mexican capital to determine whether they are safe, while others in the delegation continue searching through the rubble, still hoping to find survivors.

The IDF delegation to Mexico City on Saturday continued searching through the wreckage caused by the deadly 7.1 magnitude earthquake that devastated the country earlier this week, though at this point the chances of finding survivors are said to be very small.Because of the bleak assessments, the Israeli delegation—after consultations with the Mexican, American and Japanese rescue teams also operating in the city—gave up its surgical search methods over the last two days in favor of more massive, large-scale efforts. IDF construction & engineering unit arrives in Mexico for search & rescue

Israel’s Home Front Command delegation from the IDF that arrived in Mexico specializes in construction & engineering, that includes 71 professionally equipped soldiers & officers to assist in the logistical efforts of the locals, from their coordinated search teams, to successful rescues.
– ‘We’ll stay as long as it takes,’ said the IDF delegation’s commander.

The IDF has dispatched a rescue unit to Mexico City Thursday to assist in logistical efforts in some of the 38 buildings to completely buckle in the Mexican capital after the earthquake that hit it Tuesday.

WATCH: IDF Combat Engineering Corps demolish home of Palestinian terrorist

 

IDF filmed the house of Mohammed Tarayra , the Palestinian terrorist who stabbed 13 yr-old Hallel Ariel to death as she slept in her bed, being demolished according to a court-order, by the IDF Combat Engineering Corps, as punishment for terrorism.

 

The IDF early Monday morning announced that it had demolished the house of the family of Muhammad Tarayrah, 17, in the Palestinian village of Bani Naim, located near Kiryat Arba, where he murdered 13-year old Hallel Yafa Ariel in June.

Tarayrah stabbed Ariel to death in her bedroom on June 30 and injured another resident while infiltrating the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba, next to Hebron. Continue Reading »

IDF: Hamas’ new terror-tunnels built stronger, more durable

 

The newer tunnels built after Operation Protective Edge benefit from sturdier construction methods, improving structural integrity, which make them less likely to collapse due to rainfall.

When comparing the tunnels discovered and destroyed during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014 with the tunnel discovered two weeks ago, it is clear that Hamas has greatly improved the structural engineering of its tunnel and its construction methods.

The wall of the tunnels discovered during Operation Protective Edge consisted of pre-cast concrete slabs placed vertically, with reinforced concrete arches above them to prevent the tunnel from collapsing due to the weight of the soil above it.

The IDF detected a deep Hamas cross-border tunnel in recent days, stretching from the southern Gaza Strip into Israel. The discovery of the tunnel was kept under a media ban until Monday morning.

The tunnel is 30 meters deep, and was likely dug after the 2014 Operation Protective Edge, according to IDF assessments, though this has not been fully verified. Continue Reading »

IDF engineers strengthen Israel’s border with Lebanon

 

The IDF Engineering Corps is fashioning a 9-10 meter (30-33ft) cliff around the border community of Hanita, making it harder for Hezbollah terrorists to cross into Israel during the next war.

The Israel Defense Forces invited Reuters on Wednesday to film ongoing construction work along Israel’s border with Lebanon, where bulldozers have been at work excavating a cliff.

Syrian gunfire lightly wounds IDF officer in Golan Heights

The IDF did not return fire following the slightly wounding of an officer, part of an Engineering force attempting to extricate a stuck bulldozer.

An IDF officer was lightly wounded by a gunshot fired from Syria on Tuesday evening. The officer was treated at the scene in the northern Golan Heights and did not need to be evacuated from the scene.
