US Security Firm: Iranian Hackers Infect Israel Supporters from Twitter & Facebook

An American internet security firm reported Iranian hackers were actively using social media networks like Facebook & Twitter to spy on Israelis, by pretending to be their online ‘friends’.

Iranian hackers used social media networks to spy on Israelis, and supporters of Israel in the US and Britain, a report by an American security firm said Thursday. The report, by the iSight security group, said that Iranian hackers used profiles on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media vehicles to trick Israelis and supporters of Israel to connect to unsafe links on a phony news web site, where they would be sent a virus that could sweep their computers and gather information about logins and passwords for e-mail accounts and sensitive web sites. Iranian court opens case against Instagram & instant messaging services WhatsApp following the gov’t blocking of Twitter & YouTube.

DUBAI  – A conservative Iranian court opened a case against instant messaging services WhatsApp and Instagram while also summoning Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg over complaints of privacy violation, state news agency ISNA reported on Tuesday.

The case underscores the growing struggle between moderate Iranian president Hassan Rouhani’s drive to increase Internet freedoms and demands by the conservative judiciary for tighter controls.

The Iranian court in the southern province of Fars opened the cases against the social networks after citizens complained of breaches of privacy.

Iran’s Committee on Internet Crimes has banned WhatsApp, the cross-platform instant messaging subscription service for smartphones  that American hi-tech tycoon Mark Zuckerberg recently acquired.

“The reason for this is the assumption of WhatsApp by the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who is an American Zionist,” Abdolsamad Khorramabadi, head of the committee, said, Fox News reported on Friday.

Meanwhile, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom blasted the Islamic Republic last week in a report on the repression of religious freedom, Fox News reported.

Saudi Arabia showcased its new ballistic missiles in the country’s military parade on Thursday. The Chinese-made Dongfeng-3 missiles have a range of up to 3,300 kilometers and are armed with nuclear warheads.

Sudan says it foiled local spy-ring for Israel

 

According to a Sudanese reports, local informants gave Israel intel that facilitated in air-strike on Sudan in 2009 and again in 2012.

Sudan said Saturday night that it has arrested a ring of informants working on behalf of Israeli intelligence.

According to local reports, the Sudanese agents provided Israel with information that facilitated a 2009 attack on a weapons convoy and an airstrike on an arms factory in Khartoum in October 2012.

US & UK urge UN to probe Israeli seizure of Iranian arms ship

 

Officials at the UN reported that if Klos C arms ship did actually originate in Iran, that would have violated standing UN Security Council sanctions.

IDF elite navy unit raided the Iranian vessel in daring open sea operation, capturing Iranian made long-range missiles that were en route to Sudan.

Israel seized an Iranian ship carrying advanced weapons destined for Gaza on Tuesday night and towed it to Eilat port, the IDF said Wednesday. Elite troops from the Israel Navy’s Shayetet 13 unit boarded the ship in open waters on the maritime border of Sudan and Eritrea, some 1,500 km south of Israel.
