Victim of Arab Stabbing in Jerusalem Attempted to Drive Himself to Hospital

Not realizing the extent of his wounds the  victim of a stabbing attack in Jerusalem tried to drive himself to the hospital.

The victim of a stabbing Wednesday afternoon at Liberty Bell Park (Gan Hapa’amonim) in Jerusalem tried to drive himself to the hospital after the attack, not fully aware of how seriously he was wounded.

The man, age 40, was discovered in the Katamon neighborhood either in or near his car, ready to drive himself to a doctor to get medical treatment.

A federal appeals court on Tuesday invalidated a U.S. law that was designed to allow American citizens born in Jerusalem to choose to have Israel listed as their birthplace on passports contrary to long-standing U.S. foreign policy.

Four years of waiting is to come to an end in spectacular fashion when the 19th Maccabiah gets underway with Thursday’s opening ceremony in the capital’s Teddy Stadium.

Around 32,000 people are expected to pack the stands, with thousands of Jewish athletes from 77 countries to march around the stadium as part of the Parade of Nations.

A video uploaded Wednesday shows a frenzied Arab mob targeting cars driven by Jews as they pass near Jerusalem’s Damascus (Shechem) Gate.

The video was uploaded to the “Free Qudss” account on YouTube, and to a group by a similar name on Facebook.

The text at the start of the video reads: “Destroying the settlers cars and arrests”, and claims to have been taken near Damascus Gate.

The account’s operators and the videographers claim the events are from Tuesday evening, and that the identities of the attackers had been blurred out to protect them from being identified. Continue Reading »

Israel is irate at UNESCO for having adopted a Palestinian-sponsored resolution that denounces Israel’s activities in Jerusalem’s Old City. The resolution was presented to the 37th World Heritage Convention in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Sunday, where it passed with a narrow majority of 8:3 with 10 abstentions.

Minister Bennett: More High Tech in Jerusalem and Less PA

In order to ensure Jerusalem stays strong and Israeli, the capital needs more high-tech industry and fewer PA institutions, Naftali Bennett said.

In order to strengthen Jerusalem, two things are necessary, Minister of Industry and Trade Naftali Bennett told Bayit Yehudi MKs at the party’s weekly meeting Monday. One is to encourage more high-tech businesses to open up shop in Jerusalem – and the other is to keep the Palestinian Authority, and its institutions, out of town.

Israel postpones UNESCO Jerusalem delegation’s visit at last moment

FM officials: PA broke agreement by manipulating what was planed as a purely professional UN visit and ‘politicized’ it.

 

 

Israel on Monday called off a planned visit by a delegation from UNESCO, the United Nation’s cultural organization, to inspect preservation work in Jerusalem’s Old City, saying that the Palestinians had “politicized” the delegation.

“The delegation as a delegation has been postponed,” a Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

“The Palestinians violated all the agreements we had with UNESCO: that this was to be a purely professional, not a political visit,” he said.  The official said the Palestinians asked to introduce a “slew” of political elements into the visit, with PA Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki characterizing it as a fact-finding commission to investigate Israeli steps in Jerusalem.
