Israel to call to arms 40,000 reservists for extended Gaza operation

 

After Hamas ignored Jerusalem’s ceasefire attempts in it’s onslaught of hundreds of rockets aimed at Israeli civilian centers, the Israel cabinet votes to call up 40,000 reservists.

The security cabinet has voted to call up some 40,000 reservists in preparation of a possible ground operation in Gaza Strip as part of Operation Protective Edge, hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to “take off the gloves” in its confrontation with Hamas.

Operation Brother’s Keeper entered Day 15 Friday, as the Israel Defense Forces’ search for abducted Israeli teens Gil-ad Shaer, Eyal Yifrach and Naftali Frenkel continued across Judea and Samaria.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon signed an order on Thursday banning Islam Relief Worldwide. The organization is a source of funding for Hamas, and the ban would prohibit IRW from operating in Israel proper and Judea and Samaria.

“IRW is one of the sources of Hamas’ funding and a means for raising funds from various countries in the world,” Ya’alon said.

IDF, Shin Bet arrest Arab cell planning terror attacks on Jewish Israelis

 

The Palestinian terror cell, affiliated with Hamas was arrested just before executing planned bombing and shooting attacks against Israelis.

Security forces led by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) arrested members of a Hamas-affiliated terrorist cell in Kalkilya in recent months, who were plotting a campaign of bombings and shootings against Israeli targets, the Shin Bet announced Wednesday.

Security sources told The Jerusalem Post that the suspects, who were arrested in a series of raids between December and March, were in the early phase of planning terrorist attacks on Israeli targets in the West Bank and within the Green Line.

In a rare move, Secretary of State John Kerry protested to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday over Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s strong criticism of US foreign policy, according to AFP. 

Ya’alon slammed the US and the West on Tuesday for its “soft” approach toward the possibility of a nuclear Iran.

IAF Jets Hit More Terror Targets in 2nd Round of Retaliatory Strikes in Gaza

The Air Force hit several terror targets in Gaza on Thursday afternoon, following a wave of rocket attacks on southern Israel on Thursday morning.

IAF commanders reported that all warplanes involved had returned safely to their bases.

Israel and the United states share a common goal to advance the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians led by Secretary Kerry.

We appreciate Secretary Kerry’s many efforts towards that end. The defense minister had no intention to cause any offense to the secretary, and he apologizes if the secretary was offended by words attributed to the minister.
