British Ex-Minister May be Arrested Next Time She Visits Israel

Clare Short is Director of a Palestinian organization that promotes Hamas, which was declared an ‘illicit organization’ by Defense Minister on Tuesday.

British newspaper The Independent has reported that former British International Development Secretary Clare Short could be arrested the next time she lands in Tel Aviv, after the pro-terrorist organization she is a director of was declared an “illicit organisation” by Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon on Tuesday.

Ya’alon: EU’s threat to boycott (no peace) preferable to rockets on Ben-Gurion Airport

Defense Minister Ya’alon correctly states that “wide-eyed & naïve people in the West” err in pressuring Israel that “peace must happen immediately”, leaving Israel without security guarantees, considering the history & present acts of violence of the Palestinians.

 

 

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on Monday said that if compromises in peace negotiations would lead to “rockets from Nablus, Ramallah and Jenin on to Ben-Gurion Airport, then I would rather have a European boycott” on Israel.

Ya’alon also addressed Sunday’s rocket attack from Lebanon. Despite Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s assigning responsibility to Lebanon and Hezbollah, the defense minister implied that preliminary information indicated that the attack was perpetrated by Sunnis fighting Hezbollah in Syria who hoped to fool Israel into retaliating against Hezbollah. Defense Minister Ya’alon: Israel Has no Peace-Partner Among Palestinian Leadership

Ya’alon spoke with 3 members of ‘Breaking the Impasse’, a group of Palestinian & Israeli businesspeople aimed at promoting a durable peace accord.

 

Among those who met with Ya’alon last week were Yossi Vardi, a founder of Israel’s high-tech industry; Shlomi Fogel, a close friend of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the controlling owner of Ampa Capital; and Mooly Eden of Intel Israel.

The three are members of Breaking the Impasse, which consists of some 200 Israeli and Palestinian businesspeople. Israel’s Defense Minister: Lebanese Army Will Put Killer-Soldier on Trial

The Lebanese army has arrested the soldier who shot and killed IDF soldier Shlomi Cohen near the border on Sunday night, Moshe Yaalon said on Tuesday evening.

Yaalon’s comments were made during a tour of the Jordan Valley.

“This is a serious incident and the Lebanese government and the Lebanese army are responsible for this,” he declared, adding that there had been a meeting on Monday between the liaison officers of the Lebanese army and the IDF, attended by members of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), during which the Lebanese army reported the findings of its investigation of the shooting incident. The Lebanese soldier who reportedly went missing after opening fire at an Israeli military vehicle Sunday night on the northern border, killing an Israeli soldier, has returned to his base.

Terrorist Behind Eilat Rocket Attack Killed by Egyptian Army

In a shootout, Egyptian soldiers shot to death Ibrahim Abu Atiyeh, leader of the terrorist group responsible for recent rocket attacks on Eilat in August.

Egyptian sources said Monday night that Egyptian Army soldiers had eliminated Ibrahim Abu Atiyeh, a terrorist belonging to the Al Qaeda-linked Ansar Beit al-Makdis terror group. Abu Atiyeh was a leader of the group, which has claimed responsibility for a recent rocket attack on Eilat in August. Abu Atiyeh  was killed in a shootout with Egyptian soldiers in northern Sinai.

The group has been at odds with Eypt’s new military government, and has attempted to kill Egyptian officials, including the country’s interior minister. Continue Reading »

Israel’s Defense Minister: Gov’t to Begin Dealing With Illegal Arab Construction

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon reported Monday evening that his ministry would develop methods to deal with illegal Arab construction in Judea & Samaria.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said Monday night that he would set up a committee to develop a legal framework to prevnet illegal building in Judea and Samaria that would apply to all residents. The announcement by Ya’alon came in response to a lawsuit by the Regavim group that demanded the state intervene to prevent illegal Arab building, just as it acts to prevent illegal construction in Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria.

The lawsuit by Regavim demands that the state order the demolition of illegal building by Palestinian Authority Arabs between the Binyamin region community of Neve Tzuf and the Arab village of Deir Nazim. Continue Reading »

Egypt army reports 12 militants killed in Sinai following alleged Israeli drone strike


Egyptian Military spokesman says Islamic militants were wanted for the attack that killed 16 Egyptian soldiers last year & the abduction of 7 security forces earlier this year.

 

Egyptian helicopters fired on a meeting of suspected militants in the country’s Sinai Peninsula, officials said Sunday, killing at least 12 people as authorities stepped up their attacks following an Israeli drone strike in the region.

Before entering negotiations, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have to confront voices within the coalition that oppose the release of over 100 Palestinian prisoners in order to renew talks. Minister Uzi Landau (Yisrael Beitenu) told Ynet on Saturday that “the Israeli consent to release prisoners is a mistake. We must learn from past mistakes and not make any gestures before negotiations begin.”
