A terrorist attack took place in Jerusalem’s Old City on Monday evening, Israel Police reported.
Police reported a shooting incident at the Lion’s Gate in the Old City between an armed terrorist and police officers who were on the scene.

The suspect, reportedly a 17-year-old Palestinian from Qabatiya in the northern West Bank, was armed with a Carlo-type submachine gun according to police, and shot at a police post before being neutralized by Border Police officers. Continue Reading »

A 40-year-old policeman was stabbed by two Palestinians in the Old City of Jerusalem Thursday evening.
One of the attackers was shot and killed by security forces, while the other was severely wounded and evacuated to a hospital.

Israel’s Supreme Court has ruled that the Greek Orthodox Church must honor the lease of its properties to Ateret Cohanim, an Israeli Jewish organization committed to creating a Jewish majority in Jerusalem’s Old City.

The prime church properties inside the popular Jaffa Gate entrance to the Old City were leased for 99 years in 2004 to Ateret Cohanim, also known as the Crown of Jerusalem

The Old City’s The Gate of Mercy, (or Shaar HaRachamim in Hebrew), also called the Golden Gate, was sealed off by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1541, to prevent the Jewish Messiah, or the Anointed One, Elijah, from passing through, but last week a group of Arab worshipers removed an iron gate that was placed by the Israel Police in 2003 to prevent political activists from entering the Holy site.
