8 yr-old Israeli ‘Indiana Jones’ honored after First Temple era archaeological discovery

 

For turning archaeological find over to Antiquities Authorities’ officials, Itai Halpern of Pardesiya was granted a certificate of honor after discovering the head of a statue from the First Temple period.

An eight-year-old Israeli boy on a daytrip with his family in the Beit Shemesh area accidentally made an important archaeological discovery last week, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced Wednesday.

Israel’s Technion Developed a ‘Self-Healing’ Electronic Skin

 

Israeli scientists in Haifa used a new synthetic polymer to develop a self-healing, flexible sensor, giving it the ability to “heal” skin in less than a day.

Israeli company introduces disposable cellphone charger

 

The cheap, pock-size and environmentally friendly charger helps users to easily power up their cellphones for up to 4 hours and can later be discarded at any mobeego point of sale.

Israeli startup mobeego launched Monday their disposable cellphone charger in Israel and abroad, enabling one to charge one’s cellphone for up to four hours for about NIS 10.

Mobeego described its product as an “energy drink for the mobile phone” and the charging unit is even designed in the form of a can of energy drink. The charger is intended to be a cheap, simple, immediate and environmentally friendly solution for continuous smartphone use, without the need for a regular charger, preloading the phone with a cable or having to find an electrical outlet. Beneath a once paved parking lot archaeologists uncover Greek King Antiochus’ fortress in Jerusalem

 

After a century of searching, archaeologists in Israel say they have found the remnants of the ancient Greek fortress used to fight the rebellion led by Judah Maccabee, that’s celebrated in the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.

Researchers have long debated the location of the Acra, built more than 2,000 years ago by Greek king Antiochus Epiphanes. Many asserted it stood in what is now the walled Old City, at spots like the Church of the Holy Sepulchre or by the hilltop where the two Jewish temples once towered.

Israel invited to join int’l unit to combat terror financing & covert money-laundering

The Justice Ministry on Monday announced that Israel has been selected to join an elite global task force for combating terror financing and money-laundering, with the force’s top officials currently visiting Israel.

Israel’s AMOS-6 satellite to transmit free internet to sub-saharan Africa

Israeli 16 year-old develops GPS-activated ID tag to foil kidnappings

A teenager from Ramat Hasharon has recently launched a startup that makes “smart” ID tags with built-in GPS technology that can help soldiers and civilians in distress, and even prevent abductions.

After finding evidence of large crude oil reservoir in Israel’s Golan Heights, Afek Oil & Gas requested an extension of its exploration license to add additional wells in the area.

An oil reservoir has been discovered in the Golan Heights, Israeli energy company Afek officially revealed on Monday.

The company, which previously only hunted at the discovery, on Monday requested permission to drill additional wells in the area.

New IDF Radar For Mortars Add 7-8 Seconds Warning for Civilians to Seek Cover

 

Newly improved radar alert system for mortars to be operational by the middle of October, IDF reports.

A new radar system to detect mortars was successfully tested recently, and will improve the alert warning time for incoming projectiles by 7-8 seconds, the IDF announced on Sunday.

IDF Southern Command and security firms have already stationed the systems, which will probably start operating by the middle of next month.
