Under curious circumstance Abbas’ PA police interrogate prominent Christian clergyman

 

Archbishop Swerios Malki Murad, of the Syriac Orthodox Church is the highest ranking Christian clergyman to be arrested by the Palestinians since the Palestinian Authority was created in 1994.

Palestinian Authority security forces on Saturday night arrested the head of the Syriac Orthodox Church, Archbishop Swerios Malki Murad.

He is the most prominent Christian clergyman to be arrested by the PA since its inception in 1994.

The Syriac Orthodox Church of Jerusalem is one of 13 official Churches in the Holy Land. The church is widespread not only in Syria, but also in Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Iraq and India. Continue Reading »

Another Palestinian journalist arrested for reporting PA cooperation with IDF

Salim Sweden, a Palestinian journalist who works for the Ma’an news agency, was arrested by Palestinian Authority security forces on Sunday after he reported that the PA provided Israel information which led to the arrest of the gunmen suspected of killing Eitam and Na’ama Henkin on a West Bank roadway last October.

The Jerusalem District Attorney filed an indictment against the three – two adults and one minor from the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber – in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court.

39 Palestinians arrested by Police for throwing rocks, firebombs over 48 hours

Twenty-seven Palestinian suspects accused of throwing rocks and firebombs at officers in flashpoint Arab neighborhoods of east Jerusalem were arrested during an overnight police sweep that started late Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

The crackdown brought the total number of arrests over the trailing 48 hours to 39, according to the police.

From Friday to Saturday afternoon, 12 Palestinians were arrested for attacking Border Police officers with firebombs in Jebl Mukaber, and rioting in Shuafat, Isawiya, Wadi Joz and Ras el-Amud. Continue Reading »

Israeli Border Police (MAGAV) overnight stopped and apprehended 120 Palestinians attempting to illegally cross into Israel from the West Bank.

In the early hours between Tuesday and Wednesday, authorities were alerted to the large movement of potential infiltrators near Oranit, a settlement straddling the Green Line, northeast of Rosh Ha’ayin.

Border Police, with the help of volunteers, were able to track down the would-be trespassers before they reached the security fence, after which they were taken for interrogation, where it was discovered that a number of them are suspected of being security threats, or have a criminal record. Israeli Arab arrested for transferring funds for Hamas agents in West Bank

Malik Khatib from Kafr Kanna was indited for transferring funds from Hamas militants in Gaza to Palestinians in the West Bank and driving illegals from Gaza to Israel.

An indictment was filed Tuesday morning in the Nazareth District Court against Malik Khatib, 31, a dentist from the village of Kafr Kanna in northern Israel on suspicion he made contact with a Hamas agent and transferred funds to Hamas in Ramallah. He was also charged with illegal transportation and fraud under the Income Tax Ordinance.

Israel Police Recover a Presumed Lost 19th Century Talmud

Police detectives from the Sharet station in Tel Aviv have located a 19th century Talmud Bavli tractate that was stolen from the National Library in Jerusalem years ago, and was considered lost.

The detectives raided a business on Mikunis Street in Tel Aviv, which holds auctions of Judaica items, and found the book there.

The store owner, a man in his 40s, was detained for questioning.

Police in Paris on Monday arrested a 38-year-old man who tried to set fire to an Israeli flag that was placed at the entrance to the Hyper Cacher kosher supermarket, where Islamist terrorist Amedy Coulibali murdered four Jews (pictured below) last month .

Haaretz Journalists Arrested for Spitting and Assaulting IDF officer

Cleared for publication:  Alex Levac and Gideon Levy were arrested for assaulting soldiers in attempt to cross into ‘Area A’ without legal documentation.

The Israeli journalists who were arrested Monday afternoon near the IDF checkpoint at Tulkarem, after they entered the Palestinian Authority-controlled Area A of Judea-Samaria without permission or IDF coordination, have been revealed as none other than Haaretz‘s Gideon Levy and Alex Levac.

Haaretz itself has blamed the IDF for the incident.

“Their job is to help the vital work of journalists and not sabotage it under false pretenses, and certainly not to arrest journalists performing their duties,” the newspaper stated Monday night.

Nazi from Philly Arrested on German arrest warrant for death of 216,000 Jews

Johann Breyer of Philadelphia, faces extradition to Germany after being arrested in what could be the last legal battle against an American accused of Nazi war crimes.

Johann “Hans” Breyer, 89, of Philadelphia, was ordered held without bail Wednesday on a German arrest warrant charging him with aiding and abetting the killing of 216,000 Jewish men, women and children while he was a guard at the Auschwitz death camp.

Breyer was arrested by U.S. authorities Tuesday night and spent the night in custody.

Unnamed Israeli 23, was arrested after a bullet from his handgun was found by local authorities in his personal bag during routine search.

An Israeli man, 23, was arrested in Mumbai Airport at week’s end after a bullet was found in his personal bag when he was about to board a flight to Nepal.

He is in jail and efforts are being made to free him.
