Israel to allow cement and building materials into Gaza for Turkish hospital

 

Official in Jerusalem says reconciliation efforts with Turkey played a significant part in decision to allow construction materials and electric equipment into Hamas controlled Gaza.

Israel said on Thursday it will allow into the Gaza Strip construction materials and electric equipment to help build a Turkish-sponsored hospital, in a possible sign of improving ties with Ankara.

The decision came as Israel and Turkey try to hammer out the details of a US-backed reconciliation announced a year ago. Relations between the once-close allies ruptured in 2010 over a deadly Israeli naval raid on a Turkish Gaza-bound flotilla.

Nine pro-Palestinian Turkish activists were killed when the commando raid aboard the Mavi Marmara turned violent, sparking a major crisis between the long-time regional allies and compensation demands from the victims’ families. Continue Reading »

UN’s Falk Continues to Accuse Israel of Ethnic Cleansing

Days before he is to step down from his position, Richard Falk, the UN’s “human rights expert” who probes Israel’s conduct towards Palestinian Arabs, on Friday accused the Jewish state of a campaign of ethnic cleansing and apartheid policies.

Senior IDF sources confirmed to Arutz Sheva Friday that the Hamas terror tunnel making its way through the media is not only new – contrary to Hamas’s claims – but highly advanced.

“The tunnel exposed this week is the longest and most elaborate revealed to date,” the official stated. “We found tools, generators and additional equipment which indicates that it was being used in the past several days.”

Gaza’s lone power plant, shut off since Saturday due to a fuel shortage, will remain off until Monday according to the terror organization Hamas’s government. The responsible party for the extension appears to be the Palestinian Authority (PA), Hamas’s rival.

The power station will restart on Monday at 6 a.m., Deputy Chief of the Gaza energy authority Fathi al-Sheikh Khalil told AFP.

The shell landed in an open area in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council. No injuries were reported.

Gazan militant groups said the Israeli air strike on the Gaza Strip overnight hit a Hamas militant base, another site tied to the Popular Resistance Committees and a Palestinian National Security Forces position, all in the city of Rafah near the Egyptian border.
