An Israeli air force team returned today (Thursday) from the renowned multi-annual “Red Flag” aerial training exercise that takes place at the Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, and sometimes sees the participation of aerial teams from foreign countries.

The Israeli team included F-15 and F-16 fighter jets, in addition to a refueling plane.

Israel Air Force begins in USAF’s Red Flag exercise with Pakistan, UAE

 

Not only is the IAF currently participating in a joint military exercise alongside the UAE, Pakistan and Spain, but next month Israeli pilots are to carry out a ‘first of its kind’ exercise in India.

The Israel Air Force is taking part in the ongoing Red Flag aerial exercise alongside UAE, Pakistan and Spain, a US military spokesperson told i24news, the first official confirmation of Pakistan and the UAE’s heavily rumored participation.

Iraq seeks compensation from Israel for destroying nuclear reactor in 1981

The first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Homam Hamoudi, announced that Iraq plans to sue Israel for monetary compensation for carrying out Operation Opera, Israeli attack on the Osirak nuclear reactor in southeastern Baghdad which occurred on June 7, 1981 .

These were carried out in seven rounds of escalation and two operations (Operation Pillar of Fire and Operation Protective Edge). The system’s success rate after five years is about ninety percent.

Israel Air Force to send its pilots to train on F-35 stealth jets

 

Brig-Gen Tal Kalman says the F-35 will further boost IAF’s regional advantage, that the IAF is already “more lethal than it was in the past & can attack thousands of targets daily, while producing intelligence with a low signature.”

The IAF is set to begin sending its pilots to train on F-35 stealth jets in the US and according to Brigadier General Tal Kalman, Head of IAF Staff, media criticism of the jet is not justified. The IAF is supposed to receive its first F-35s in December.

Israeli firm wins $70M Electronic Warfare system contract for IAF jets

 

The Israeli firm Elbit, will be providing Israel Air Force fighter-jets with advanced Electronic Warfare systems to dominate the skies & battlefields of the future.

Leading Israeli defense firm Elbit Systems announced on Monday that it has been awarded a contract to supply advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) systems for Israeli fighter jets.

The contract was awarded by the Directorate of Production and Procurement of the Israeli Defense Ministry, and is worth around $70 million.

Israel Air Force to Fly Over Syria With Impunity, ‘Russia is not our enemy’

 

Although, “We don’t give anyone advance notice or ask permission to operate in Syria,” an IAF official said a coordination mechanism had been set up between the Israeli and the Russian air forces to “avoid any misunderstandings” between the two.

The Israeli Air Force introduced a new unmanned aerial vehicle into its operational lineup Tuesday, in a move a senior officer said would “revolutionize the drone world.”

The Hermes 900 Kochav (“Star”), which became operational this week, is a medium-size multi-payload unmanned aerial vehicle, designed for long-endurance tactical reconnaissance, surveillance, and communications missions.

Manufactured by Elbit Systems, the Hermes 900 can remain airborne for over 30 hours, and can fly at an altitude of 30,000 feet. Continue Reading »

Israel is actively working to double the range of its F-35 defense fighters, officials said Thursday, in an announcement made just before the Senate Congress vote on the Iran deal.

Israel’s F-35s are tailor-made by Lockheed Martin, and named Adir (lit. “awesome.”). The first two Adirs are due to be delivered to the Israeli Air Force (IAF) in December 2016.

Israel revealed that the IAF and the U.S. have signed an air force agreement last week covering a wide range of strategic cooperation between the 2 air forces.

Israel and the U.S. have signed an important strategic air force agreement, the Israel Air Force revealed Monday. The ASNR (Air Senior National Representative) agreement, signed last week, covers a full range of cooperation between the forces under one roof by building a joint annual work plan addressing these issues with the goal of promoting relevant interests of each force, the IAF said.

According to Brigadier General Ya’akov Sharabani, the IAF’s Attaché in Washington, the agreement “is a significant milestone in the cooperation between the forces, realized for the first time as signed agreement.”
