Lebanon Rockets Hit Israel’s Northern Border for Third Time

 

IDF responds to set of rockets with artillery fire, after ‘Code Red’ siren sounds in Shlomi and Nahariya again. This incident marks the 3rd time rockets from Lebanon pounded Israel since Friday.

Code Red sirens sounded in Nahariya, Shlomi and other communities in the Western Galilee at 00:26 on Sunday, after two rockets were launched toward Israeli territory, apparently from Lebanon. The rockets exploded in open areas and there were no reports of injuries or damage.

Local residents said that the first explosion sounded immediately after the siren, while the second explosion sounded approximately 50 seconds later. Continue Reading »

Gaza Terrorists Detonate Explosive Device as IDF Patrol Israel’s Security Barrier

An explosive was detonated on Friday morning on the security barrier right by Kibbutz Nirim, located in the Eshkol Regional Council just outside of the Hamas-enclave of Gaza.

The blast went off as an IDF patrol passed through the area, in what apparently was a targeted attack. IDF reports that no soldiers were injured, although light damage apparently was inflicted on an army vehicle.

IDF forces intensified operations in villages just north of Hebron Friday evening and announced the closure of the area to public traffic as large numbers of additional forces flooded the region arriving in parts throughout the day.

Arab Terrorist Shot Trying to Infiltrate into Shomron Town

IDF soldiers open fire on 2 Palestinian terrorists trying to infiltrate into the Shomron town of Kochav Ya’akov.

IDF soldiers were able to foil an attempt by two terrorists to infiltrate into the Shomron (Samaria) town of Kochav Ya’akov, northeast of Jerusalem, on Monday evening.

The soldiers caught the two as they were tampering with the fence surrounding the town and opened fire towards them. One of the terrorists was wounded and taken for treatment in a Ramallah hospital. His condition is unknown.

IDF: Reserves Soldiers Inducted as Iron Dome Deploys in South

 

The IDF moves up a notch to rescue the 3 kidnapped young Israelis in West Bank by calling up reserves and preparing anti-rocket batteries in southern Israel. 

 

The IDF has called up a limited number of reserves as the military operation to rescue three kidnapped Israelis in the West Bank continues to grow. The call up is small in scope at this stage.

Also on Sunday, the air force deployed a number of Iron Dome anti-rocket batteries in southern Israel.

Hamas Claims IDF Wounded 2 Gazans in Separate Clashes

Israeli army spokesperson unit confirms IDF troops fired at a man in Gaza approaching the security fence with Israel, but not aware of other incident.

Hamas officials say two men were wounded in separate clashes with the IDF Saturday.

Gaza’s healthy ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra claimed a 16-year-old youth was shot near the security barrier with Israel in Khan Yunis, according to AFP.

He also claimed a 36-year-old fisherman was shot while he was aboard his boat in the Mediterranean off Gaza City.  

The IDF said it was not aware of the two incidents in question, but did say troops had opened fire at a Palestinian man who was approaching the security barrier on foot. Continue Reading »

4 IDF soldiers hurt by blast on Israel-Syrian border

 

 

Four Israeli soldiers were wounded Tuesday after an explosive device was detonated on their patrol along the Syrian border, near the Druze village of Majdal Shams.

Israel responded to the explosion with artillery fire on the Syrian city of Quneitra, where the assailants were believed to have hailed from and air force jets have reportedly been circling over the northern Golan Heights.

The army also instructed local farmers to evacuate the area and all construction works on the Syrian border fence have been temporarily halted.

An investigation into Friday night’s skirmishes between Israel and Lebanon – during which an explosive device was detonated on the Lebanese side of the border and the IDF retaliated with shells – has revealed that Hezbollah terrorists succeeded in entering Israel.

Israel has been working to temper tensions with Jordan after a Jordanian judge was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers at the Allenby Bridge border crossing on Monday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a formal apology to Jordanian King Abdullah II on Tuesday for the death of Raed Alaa el-Deen Za’eiter.

Arab Shot Running Towards Iron Dome Position

Soldiers guarding an Iron Dome installation near the city of Eilat fired on an Arab man on Thursday after he ran at them screaming “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for “G-d is great”).

Fearing a terrorist attack, the soldiers shot at the man’s legs in order to stop him. The man was hit and injured.

He was taken to Eilat’s Yoseftal Hospital. It is not yet clear whether the man is armed and was attempting a terrorist attack, or is mentally ill. Continue Reading »

Artillery Corps seeks more recruits in growing northern role

 

Israel’s Artillery Corps is becoming a strategic force on Israel’s Syrian border, where it responds with lethal surface-to-surface missiles at enemy positions.

 

With a new precision rocket battalion also coming into service soon, the Artillery Corps, which maintains the Ground Forces’ only drone unit, is hoping that its growing role will attract more young recruits. On Tuesday, the Corps is set to learn how many Israeli youths from the November round of draftees signed up with the Artillery Corps.

Six Syrian outposts have been destroyed over the past few months by Tamuz missiles fired by IDF Artillery Corps soldiers. Ynet is revealing for the first time images from an incident in March during which one such missile destroyed a Syrian position after machine gun fire emanating from the outpost targeted Israeli soldiers.

The dual message of “stay calm but be prepared,” one government official said, reflected the continued assessments in Jerusalem that there was a “low probability” that Syria would actually strike Israel, but also reflected the government’s responsibility to prepare for all sorts of scenarios, “no matter how unlikely.”

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) stated that one of its employees, 34-year-old Rubin Ziad, was among the three killed in clashes between IDF forces and residents of the Qalandiya refugee camp in the vicinity of Jerusalem on Monday.

The statement said that sources revealed that the man was on his way to work and was not involved in any violent action. It was also stated that another UNRWA employee was shot in the leg during the clashes, and is currently in stable condition. Continue Reading »

IDF Retaliates After Syrian Shells Target Golan Heights

IDF Radio reported Saturday evening that the Israeli response destroyed a Syrian military position, the source of the attack on Israel.

The Israeli army fired into Syria after shells from the neighboring country hit the Israeli side of the Golan Heights on Saturday, a military spokesman said. IDF Radio reported the Israeli attack demolished a Syrian military position.

“Today, several shells fired from Syria landed in the central Golan heights, adjacent to the Israel-Syria border,” the spokesman told AFP.
