Egypt’s Foreign Minister was chastise in the Arabic media for answers he gave high school students visiting the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Cairo, saying, ‘Israel isn’t connected to terrorism,’ after being asked why attacks occur all over the Arab world, but not in Israel.

Egyptian Army arrested 70 Sudanese migrants attempting to enter Israel

According to an AP report, the Sudanese embassy is in contact with Egyptian authorities regarding status of 70 Sudanese nationals being detained in a Cairo prison after illegally entering the Sinai.

Egyptian authorities arrested some 70 Sudanese nationals as they attempted to enter Israel, Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ghareeb Allah Khidi said Saturday in a report on the SUNA news agency, according to the Associated Press.

Just hours after Egyptian rival refused to shake hands after his loss, Israeli judoka, Or Sasson, wins a bronze medal in the men’s 100 kg plus weight class.

Israeli judoka Or Sasson on Friday won a bronze medal in the Rio Olympics, after winning a consolation round in the men’s 100 kilogram plus weight class.

Sasson defeated Cuban Alex Garcia Mendoza, shortly after losing a semifinal match to world champion Teddy Riner.

The medal gives Israel its second bronze medal at the Rio Olympics. Earlier this week, judoka Yarden Gerbi won a bronze medal after defeating Japan’s Miku Tashiro in the women’s Judo under 63 kg category. Continue Reading »

REPORT: Egypt to back Palestinian demands as Abbas meets Sissi

Citing sources in Jerusalem, Israel’s TV2 news reported the meeting between Sissi & Abbas on Friday is aimed at tilting the Egyptian peace initiative in the Palestinians’ favor, with Egypt preparing to back a list of Palestinian demands assembled by Abbas.

Jerusalem to return ancient Egyptian sarcophagi smuggled into Israel

In an effort to warm relations with Egypt, Jerusalem decides to return to Egypt 2 recovered sarcophagus lids that 4 years ago were being smuggled to Europe, but were intercepted by Israel Antiquities Authorities, & the Antiquities Robbery Prevention Unit.

New Egyptian textbook likely to herald warmer Egypt-Israel relations

President Abdul-Fatah al-Sisi’s initiative of revamping Egyptian educational textbooks towards its peace with Israel will hopefully bring about a positive attitude towards Israel.

Jerusalem – Textbook introduced this semester by the government of President Abdul-Fatah al-Sisi requires Egyptian pupils to memorize the provisions of the 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty and delineate the ”advantages of peace for Egypt and the Arab states.”

The assignments from the ninth grade book, The Geography of the Arab World and the History of Modern Egypt, are part of a change to a more robust and positive treatment of peace with Israel than that manifested in books during the three decades in power of al-Sisi’s predecessor Hosni Mubarak. IDF general admits Israel assisting Arab allies fight ISIS

Speaking at the Japanese Parliament Monday, the Egyptian president claimed that “Egypt was the pioneer of the peace process in the Middle East and it remains committed to its peace treaty with Israel notwithstanding the difficulties it has experienced in the past few years.”

Egyptian parliamentarian & TV host bashed by peers for meeting Israeli envoy for dinner

After Egyptian MP Tawfik Okasha invited Israel’s ambassador for dinner, he was charged with “unforgivable treason” and accused of “hypocrisy” by Egyptian media personalities.

An Egyptian TV host and parliamentarian is coming under fire for meeting with the Israeli ambassador to Egypt, the Al-Ahram newspaper reported on Thursday.

According to the newspaper, the parliamentarian Tawfik Okasha had dinner on Wednesday with Israeli ambassador Haim Koren and the two talked politics.

Okasha reportedly discussed several local and regional issues with Koren, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the construction of the controversial Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, according to Al-Ahram, which quoted the Arabic-language Youm7 website.
