Israel navy has new maritime countermeasures for Hezbollah

 

Israel Navy’s newly installed “MF-STAR” radar has greater range than its predecessors, can distinguish between friendly & enemy ships and detect & respond to multiple targets simultaneously.

Israel’s navy has a new weapon in the fight against threats from Syria and Hezbollah. Its newly installed “MF-STAR” radar system is designed to counter the Yakhont (S-800) anti-ship missiles used by both.

The IDF says that the radar, manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), has a greater range in comparison to the previous generation of systems, can mark more targets at once, and detect enemy ships hiding among dozens of friendly or non-combatant vessels. Continue Reading »

Israel’s Navy carries out over 50% of total IDF’s operational activities

Vice Admiral Marom reports how the ongoing covert war targeting arms smuggling to Israel’s enemies and Iran’s nuclear program makes up half of IDF’s operational activities.

 

 

The Israel Navy plays a crucial role in the covert war against Iranian arms smuggling to its terrorist proxies, former navy chief V.-Adm. (Res.) Eliezer Marom told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday.

4 Smugglers shot by Israeli Navy while heading to Gaza, boat explodes

 

Israel’s Naval troops said they heard secondary explosions after they fired on the 2 suspicious boats sailing from Egypt’s Sinai to the Gaza Strip.

Israeli naval troops in the Mediterranean Sea opened fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning on suspected Palestinian smugglers traveling in two boats from Sinai to the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians said that four people on the boats had been wounded.

It is not clear what exactly the boats were carrying, but the IDF said that the boats were damaged, and that they had heard secondary explosions after they had opened fire. Continue Reading »

Israeli Navy forces enter Eilat Port 3 days after intercepting ship of Iranian arms

 

The INS Hetz & INS Hanit docked at Eilat’s port after successfully executing operation ‘Full Disclosure’ to intercept & take custody of weapons shipment from Iran to Gaza via Sudan.

Israeli Navy ships INS Hanit and INS Hetz arrived at the Eilat Port Saturday afternoon after accompanying the Iranian weapons ship Klos C to Israeli shores. The ship was captured early Wednesday morning ferrying Iranian-made M-302 rockets bound for the Gaza Strip.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveiled Tuesday its new unmanned vessel, the Katana, designed for routine security missions near the shore and at sea. “We named it after the Japanese samurai sword, because we wanted to emphasize the system’s speed, reliability and lethality,” the IAI said.

Berlin agreed to sell 2 naval destroyers to Israel

 

German newspaper Bild reports Merkel’s gov’t grants Israeli request, will sell 2 advanced destroyers for protecting Israeli gas fields at sea, for sum of  €1 billion.

Earlier this year, a significant deal between Germany and the Israeli security establishment was completed, as the Germans handed a fifth Dolphin-class submarine to Israel. The handover was marked in an official ceremony in Germany’s city of Kiel.Germany will sell two destroyers to Israel for one billion euros ($1.3 billion), the Bild daily reported Saturday.

Israeli Navy Expects ‘Exiting Gaza Flotillas’

Gaza protest group plans to sail from Gaza to confront Israel’s naval ships enforcing the strip’s blockade.

The IDF and Israel Navy are prepared to encounter what has been dubbed a “reverse flotilla” from Gaza, reports Israel Hayom Monday. The political flotilla will be coming at the Israeli ships from Gaza and going westward, as opposed to previous political flotillas that came from the west toward Gaza, hence the name “reverse flotilla”.

Video: Israel Navy to receive 3 Super Dvora advanced patrol boats

 

 

Within upcoming 2 years, IAI will provide the Navy with 3 Super Dvora patrol boats, which are expected to secure coasts of northern Israel, including gas rigs, and the Gaza & Red Sea coasts.

The Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced Sunday that the Beersheba Ramta plant signed a contract with the defense establishment to provide three Super Dvora fast patrol boats to the Israeli Navy. The Super Dvora is an advanced medium-sized vessel used for security operations.

IDF Boosts Naval Presence off Lebanese Coast

After Lebanese bombings & rocket attack on Israel leads the IDF to station a new, advanced warship on Israel’s northern border.

The IDF plans to purchase a “Super Dvora Mk III” warship which will be stationed off the coast of Israel’s northern border, near Lebanon, the IDF website reports.
