Israeli Arab Gov’t Member: ‘Israel is not an apartheid state’

Ra’am Party leader and Israeli Knesset Member Mansour Abbas, has rejected the claim that the State of Israel was guilty of being apartheid, pointing out the obvious, that his Israeli-Arab party was a member of the current Israeli government.

Ra’am Party leader and Israeli Knesset Member Mansour Abbas, has rejected the claim that the State of Israel was guilty of the crime of apartheid within its sovereign borders.

“I would not call it apartheid,” he said during a virtual talk he gave at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy on Thursday.

#ApartheidFail: IDF sees sharp increase in Muslim voluntary enlistment

Despite last May’s ‘Operation Guardian of the Walls’ and the protests that occurred in many Israeli cities, the IDF reported that the trend of increased numbers of Muslims volunteering for the IDF will likely continue.

Even in the wake of Operation Guardian of the Walls and the violent rioting in mixed cities and other towns, the IDF presented encouraging statistics that show a sharp rise in the number of Muslims drafting to the IDF. Indictment charges brought against the Arab Knesset Member are: unlawfully bringing communication devices into a prison, fraud, breach of trust, use of property for purposes of terrorism and fraudulently obtaining benefits.

MK Basel Ghattas (Joint List) was indicted on Thursday for smuggling cellphones to Palestinian security prisoners in Israel jails.

The offenses Ghattas will be charged with are: Bringing in documents not through the prison administration, bringing in communication devices, use of property for purposes of terrorism, fraud and breach of trust by a public worker, fraudulently obtaining benefits under aggravated circumstances. Cleared for publication: Israeli Arab from Jerusalem arrested on terrorism charges

 

The arrested suspect, who was involved in a number of previous terror-related attacks, was planning to carry out multiple shooting attacks against Israeli security personnel & civilians in the Jewish Capital.
• His Facebook page revealed he supports Hamas and frequently incited against Israel.

An Israeli resident living in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem was arrested three weeks ago on suspicion of planning to carry out multiple acts of terrorism in Israel, it was cleared for publication Thursday afternoon.

The resident, identified as Muhammad Mussa Muhammad Abassi, was arrested as part of a joint operation between the Shin Bet and the Police Central Unit, said a press release issued by the Shin Bet.

Even as campuses around the world begin their annual “Israel Apartheid Week” festivities, Cook openly praised Israel’s integration of minorities in its burgeoning hi-tech sector.

3 Israeli Arabs reportedly entered Syria to join Islamic jihad

According to a report in a local Nazareth magazine, the families of the three men tried to have them arrested before they crossed the Turkish-Syrian border.

Four residents of Yafia, a town near Nazareth, left Israel for Turkey during Eid al-Adha earlier this month with the intent of enlisting with the rebel groups in Syria, or with the Islamic State, according to a report in a local Nazareth paper.

One of the four dropped out en route and returned home, where he told the families of the other three that they were planning to travel to Syria.

Jerusalem’s Mayor approves major construction plan for Arab neighborhood

Mayor Barkat overcomes years of opposition from right-wing, Haredi forces and gets approval for the construction of 2200 new homes.

 

The Jerusalem Local Building and Planning Committee on Wednesday approved a large construction plan for an Arab neighborhood in East Jerusalem over the objections of right-wing city councilors. The plan for the Arav al-Swahara neighborhood extends over 1,500 dunams (375 acres) and calls for building 2,200 homes.

Although Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and Deputy Mayor Koby Kahlon, who chairs the building and planning committee, had been trying to get this plan passed for several years, it was repeatedly blocked by right-wing activists in conjunction with Haredi city councilmen.

An Israeli Muslim Arab has written to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressing that if the Jewish state truly wants peace, it must remove from power the terror groups that current hold sway over the Palestinian population, and instead deal directly with average Arabs who just want to live quietly.
