Norwegian delegation asks for Israel’s forgiveness in Jerusalem

Norway’s Christian leaders arrive at the Knesset, asking forgiveness over Norway’s attitude, pledging their support for Israel and hopes in forming a new Christian political party, saying Israel belongs to the Jews.

Pastor Terje Ligerod, head of the Norwegian delegation of roughly 40 Christian leaders visiting Israel this week, told Arutz Sheva that his group came to ask forgiveness for Norway’s antagonism towards Jews, and to pledge support for the Jewish state.

Arab MKs address letter to visiting secretary of state to intervene on Bedouin’s behalf, calling Praver plan, ‘ethnic cleansing’

Some 800 demonstrators gathered outside the Beersheba court to protest a plan to resettle Bedouins in the Negev and the arrest of protesters in the Hura Junction on Saturday.

“Free the detainees!” the protesters chanted. Large police forces are at the scene.

New Knesset bill: Public can petition Knesset to discuss issues

 

The newly proposed legislation, which allows in the Knesset a similar practice from the European Parliament, passed its preliminary reading today.

 

 
The public will be able to more actively participate in the Knesset’s work, as a bill proposed by MK Hilik Bar (Labor) allowing people to sign petitions on the Knesset’s website, is on its way to becoming law.

The legislation, which brings a practice from the European Parliament to the Knesset, passed its preliminary reading Wednesday with 40 in favor and one opposed.

“This is an unprecedented, historic bill that changes the way we relate to the citizens who sent us to the Knesset to represent them and their involvement in our work,” Bar explained.

Norwegian delegation to appear at Knesset & apologize for Oslo Accords

 

Delegation of Christian leaders from Oslo wish to ask for forgiveness for the disaster of the Oslo agreements.

 

They are coming from Oslo – to apologize for “Oslo.” A group of more than 20 Christian leaders from Norway will be coming to the Knesset on Wednesday to ask for forgiveness for the diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinians that began in their capital.

French President Francois Hollande to address Knesset

 

French President Hollande reports that he will address the Knesset as originally planned.

French President Francois Hollande announced he will address the Knesset plenum during his Israel visit set for late November, two weeks after Paris decided to move the speech to one of Israel’s universities.

The initial decision to move the speech was met with outrage at the Knesset.

“If the French president had canceled the speech altogether, that’s his prerogative. But once he decided that the Knesset, which represents the people, is not respectable enough for him and that he’d rather do the speech outside, that’s an insult to Israeli democracy and the Israeli people,” a Knesset official said. A Knesset committee hearing regarding internal security issues at the Mount of Olives revealed that the roads to the historic site present a mortal danger to travelers and pilgrims. The Mount of Olives holds one of Judaism’s oldest cemeteries, and is the burial site of several prominent religious leaders.

The discussion, which was mediated by Likud MK Miri Regev, opened with a statement from MK Avraham Michaeli (Shas) that he is “afraid to go to the Mount of Olives” and that “when you go there, you find yourself in mortal danger.” Continue Reading »

Hollande decided to speak to university students, not the Knesset, during his visit to Israel in three weeks, and Edelstein responded to the snub in kind.

“Whoever disrespects the Knesset does not deserve the Knesset’s respect,” Edelstein wrote on Facebook.

Naftali Bennett’s party, Habayit Hayehudi, announces it will propose bill forbidding political prisoners’ release to vote on Sunday, shortly before 2nd group of murderous Palestinian prisoners to be freed.

Habayit Hayehudi announced Thursday that on Sunday the party intends to raise to vote a bill prohibiting the release of terrorists, shortly before the scheduled second release of terrorists, as agreed under the renewed talks.

“Releasing terrorists in return to Tzipi Livni‘s right to meet with (Saeb) Erekat is very severe,” a Habayit Hayehudi official said about the peace talks, which are at an impasse.

Israel’s High Court rejects petition against natural gas exports

The High Court of Justice on Monday rejected by a tally of 5-2 a petition against the state’s unilateral decision on Israel’s natural gas export policy.

After 5 people drowned off Israel’s shores this past weekend, the Knesset convened to discussed shore safety – and ironically 2 more people drowned this morning as the issue was being examined.

After five people drowned off Israel’s shores last weekend, the Knesset called for a special discussion on how to increase safety at the shore – and ironically, two more people drowned Sunday as the discussion was taking place.

A 49 year old Shfaram resident drowned at a beach in Nahariya, and was declared dead on the spot, while a fifteen year old Tel Aviv resident, who was pulled from the water at the Bograshov beach in the city, was eventually resuscitated. Continue Reading »

MKs Demonstrate Anger By Standing Silent

Unusual silence in Knesset as MKs express their outrage with ‘Governance Bill’ that will increase the vote threshold for the Knesset from 2% of the national vote to 4%.

Members of Knesset who opposed the Governance Bill chose an unusual way to express their anger on Wednesday night. Instead of continuing the passionate debate over the bill, they chose to use their three minutes on the Knesset podium to protest with silence.
