Syria rejoices in Army’s (bogus) claim of hitting IDF warplanes

 

Syrian TV & radio merrily cover its Army’s claim of hitting IDF fighter-jets, ignoring IDF denials, while bringing out analysts for panel discussions etc. Meanwhile, a Syrian journalists laugh off the story, tweeting President Bashar al-Assad lacks the courage to even attack an Israeli cat.

Syrian media has been extensively covering the reportedly false claim made by the Syrian Army that Syrian ground-to-air missiles have managed to strike down an IDF drone and fighter jet.

Israel denies losing fighter-jets or UAV after retaliatory strike in Syria

All aircrafts returned safely, the IDF spokesperson said. “Israeli aircraft were not close to the source of the fire, and the missiles never threatened their target [the Israeli] aircraft.”

The Syrian military said it shot down two Israeli military aircraft, including a drone, Tuesday morning, alleging they attacked a government-held position in the country’s south.

“Our air defenses blocked the attack and shot down the military aircraft in (the southern province of) Quneitra and a drone” in the Golan area said the statement carried by state news agency SANA.

Shortly thereafter, however, an IDF spokesperson denied the claims, saying that no manned Israeli aircraft or drones had been downed.

Speaking to students at Ariel University, in the West Bank settlement of Ariel, Liberman said that “the model of land for peace has failed, that’s why we speak of land and population swaps.”

Facebook cooperates with Israeli officials, removes 95% of terror incitement

 

Israel’s Ministers Shaked & Erdan and representatives from Facebook agreed to form a task force to fight online hate & incitement – but Israel’s option of legislation forcing social networks’ total cooperation is till on table.

Facebook cooperates with the authorities the vast majority of the time the government asks the network to remove content inciting to terrorism, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked said Monday, shortly after she and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan met with a senior delegation from the social media giant.

Largest military aid package to Israel in US history delayed by White House

 

Whereas US Ambassador Dan Shapiro said the US aid package demonstrates US commitment to Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region, President Obama is delaying the signing of the agreement due to a conflict with the US Senate, that thinks it’s inadequate.

IDF teaches Colombian delegation in Israel on how to clear land mines

 

Colombian gov’t dispatches delegation to Israel seeking IDF expertise in landmine discovery and removal methods, after more than 11,000 Colombians have been killed by mines since 1991.

JTA – A Colombian delegation arrived in Israel to receive training on how to clear land mines.

Colombia sought the expertise of the Israeli Defense Ministry’s National Mine Action Authority on clearing its soil of the deadly devices. The delegation arrived Friday.

The South American nation recently signed a historic peace pact with the FARC terrorist organization ending five years of conflict.

More people have been killed recently by land mines in Colombia than in any other country.

Rower Moran Samuel claimed Israel’s first medal at the Rio Paralympics on Sunday, winning a bronze in the arms-shoulders women’s single sculls final.

Samuel, the reigning world champion, clocked a time of 5:17.46 minutes in the 1,000-meter final and took her first Paralympic medal after finishing in fifth place at London 2012.

An internal document of the Civil Administration confirmed that former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan allowed two Palestinians to control land in the Jordan valley, despite them not having legal ownership over the land.

The story was revealed a year ago when David Elhayani, the head of the Jordan Valley Council, warned the Civil Administration that Palestinians had entered state land that is under the jurisdiction of the municipality and tried to plant a palm grove.

Police eject dozens of anti-Israel protesters from disrupting NYC hearing on BDS
