REPORT: ‘Abbas has agreed to reach a peace deal with Israel’

 

Abbas has said that he would renew peace-talks under Trump’s auspices without preconditions, unlike in the past when he had refused to negotiate with Netanyahu until there was first a cessation to settlement construction and prisoners released from incarceration.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has crossed the Rubicon and voiced “unprecedented” readiness to reach a peace deal with Israel, sources close to the efforts to renew talks between Israel and the Palestinians have told The Jerusalem Post.

Filipina woman volunteers for same IDF unit that rescued her grandmother

 

Not an Israeli citizen or even Jewish, Joana Chris Arpon was honored by Israel’s president as one of the Jewish State’s most outstanding soldiers after she volunteered to serve in the IDF search and rescue unit that was dispatched to the Philippines in 2013.

Palestinians outraged FIFA Congress tabled anti-Israeli decision

 

For refusing to rule against Israel, FIFA Congress came under attack by Palestinian football chief Jibril Rajoub, who told  delegates, ‘We are looking for full recognition of our right that no Israeli clubs play in our territory.’

The Palestinian Football Association on Thursday accused FIFA of succumbing to “political pressure” following its decision to postpone a ruling on the contentious issue of Israeli clubs playing in the West Bank.

“We are disappointed that FIFA has decided to allow political pressure to win over the FIFA statutes,” it says in a statement, after FIFA’s annual Congress voted to back — by a majority of 73 to 27 percent — a proposal that pushed football’s governing body to report by March 2018. Marc Zell, the co-chair of Republicans Overseas in Israel, on Wednesday said there was no truth to the reports that President Donald Trump had decided that the United States Embassy in Israel would remain in Tel Aviv.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry appealed this week to US Envoy to the UN Nikki Haley to nullify Security Council Resolution 2334 which calls for an end to settlement construction while simultaneously declaring them illegal, both in the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem.

Indian Warships Anchored at Haifa Port Ahead of Historical 1st Visit By India’s PM

 

India’s three warships arrived at Haifa Port Tuesday, and during their stay the ships & crew will engage extensively with the Israel Navy, including in both professional and social engagements, marking 25 years of diplomatic ties.

Three Indian Navy warships arrived at Haifa Port on Monday for a three-day visit as part of that nation’s overseas deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and West Coast of Africa.

The ships, from the Mumbai- based Indian Navy Western Naval Command, are: the INS Mumbai, a guided-missile destroyer; INS Trishul, a stealth-missile frigate; and INS Aditya, a tanker.

WASHINGTON — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Washington’s largest Israel advocacy organization are withholding support for a Senate bill that would defund the Palestinian Authority over its “martyr” compensation scheme, which provides the families of convicted murderers and terrorists in Israel with monthly stipends.

US news outlets report the Iranian Navy tested an advanced submarine launched torpedo in the Strait of Hormuz, considered to be one of the world’s most strategically important shipping corridors.

US news sources reported Monday evening that Iran tested an advanced torpedo missile near the Strait of Hormuz.

Senior officials in the American security infrastructure told Fox News and NBC that the experiment was conducted within Iran’s maritime border and did not violate international law, but noted that it is considered to be another Iranian provocation following the increasing tensions between the states since President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
