IDF set to deploy unmanned patrol vehicles on Gaza border

 

Currently the IDF aims to deploy the UGVs (Unmanned Ground Vehicles) on its Gaza border with plans to eventually deploy them on Israel’s other borders with Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.

Israel is planning to bolster its high-tech arsenal by deploying fully autonomous military vehicles along the country’s dangerous border with Gaza.

WATCH: IDF’s ‘Drakonit’ system allows soldier’s firing without exiting APC, tank

 

IDF’s newly integrated Drakonit system will permit its soldiers to fire at targets up to 1.5 kilometers away without having to exit, or expose themselves on their armored vehicles, providing the soldiers with optimum protection.

The IDF Ground Forces’ Technological Brigade have begun installing in recent months the “Drakonit” computerized firing network in “Achzarit” APCs, which are used in regular and reserve infantry brigades, and on the Combat Engineering Corps’s older “Puma” armored vehicles.

The Drakonit, manufactured by Elbit, allows the operation of a heavy machine gun on the roof of armored vehicles directly from the fighter’s box without the soldier needing to extend their body outside and thus endanger themselves. Continue Reading »

FDA approves Israeli-made theraputic contact lense

Patients on a waiting list for a corneal transplant or who’s suffering from chronic pain will benefit from the Israeli developed contact lens that are now entering the market.

The FDA has approved a new therapeutic contact lens that will help treat corneal edema, a common eye condition in adults that causes swelling, a build-up of fluid, blurred vision, haziness and scarring. EyeYon, the Israeli company responsible for this development, created these special lenses in an effort to increase the amount of time eye drops can remain in the eye in order to help alleviate symptoms of the condition which is common after cataract and corneal transplant surgeries. Historical discovery of Egyptian statue with hieroglyphic script found at Tel-Hazor

US Army looks at Israel’s short-range missile interceptor for European defense

 

The US Army has its eyes on purchasing the Tamir missile, used in the Israel’s Iron Dome Missile Defense System, to incorporate it into Europe’s air defenses against any possible future Russian expansion.

MIT Tech Review: Israel’s Mobileye ranked 6th, on a list of the world’s top 50

HISTORIC EVENT: Israel receives first F-35 Lightning II fighter jet

Israel constructs world’s highest solar tower in the Negev

 

Israel seeks to reclaim its place in clean renewable energy after having been a pioneer of solar energy in the 1950, by leading the world in the use of solar water heating systems, but neglecting the path when natural gas was discovered a decade ago. This project should provide 2% of Israel’s electricity needs, enough for a city of 110,000 households.
