Putin Disregards US Court: Refuses to Relinquish Archive to Chabad

Vladimir Putin says Russia will not comply to a U.S. District Court verdict by returning a disputed 18th Century Jewish archive to the U.S., saying doing so, would “open a Pandora’s box”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday he refused to return a historic but disputed Jewish archive to the United States because doing so would “open a Pandora’s box”, AFP reports.

Russian President Vladimir PutinPutin spoke after a U.S. judge slapped a daily fine of $50,000 on Moscow last month for its failure to comply with a 2010 order to return the sacred texts.

Putin’s international cultural cooperation representative Mikhail Shvydko said at the time that the ruling “doomed” the chances of the archive ever being sent to the United States. Continue Reading »

Millions of Jews, who were systematically murdered by Nazi regime during World War II, were commemorated in the Turkish city.

The Knesset & US Congress jointly urge Obama to release Jonathan Pollard

A joint initiative by Knesset members and the U.S. Congress is calling on President Barack Obama, scheduled to visit Israel in a few weeks, to secure the release of imprisoned Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard in time to bring the news to Israel personally on his visit.

The two politicians behind the initiative, Israeli MK Danny Danon (Likud-Beytenu) and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, met on Thursday to discuss the joint endeavor.

Polish Culture Ministry ends grant for Holocaust journal

Holocaust Studies and Materials has been funded by the Ministry of Culture since its inception 8 years ago. The Center for Holocaust Research filed an appeal against the ministry’s decision to discontinue assistance.

WARSAW — Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage will not continue funding a Holocaust journal.

The decision not to renew funding for the journal Holocaust Studies and Materials, published by Polish Center for Holocaust Research, was announced last week.

Synagogue near Auschwitz may Collapse

The Lomdei Mishnayot Synagogue is the only one still in existence in Oswiecim, the southern city where Nazi Germans ran the Auschwitz camp during World War II. It was rededicated in 2000 to try to rekindle the Jewish life that was vibrant in the city before the war. Continue Reading »

Stolen Paintings to be Returned to Jewish Owners

The heirs of 2 Jewish families whose paintings were stolen during World War II will receive 7 paintings from France.

France will return seven paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries to the heirs of two Jewish families whose artworks were stolen during World War II, the French culture ministry told AFP on Thursday.

Six paintings by Italian and German artists will be returned to Thomas Selldorff, the octogenarian grandson of Austrian textile magnate Richard Neumann, who was forced to flee his country in 1938.

Neumann came with part of his art collection to Paris but fled to Spain when the Nazis occupied France and eventually reached Cuba, where he settled. Continue Reading »

Brooklyn College investigates the ejection of Jewish students from its BDS event

The host of the event was the Brooklyn College Students for Justice in Palestine, who’s aim is “helping end Israeli apartheid and the illegal occupation of Palestine.”

Lapid and Bennett Become a Package Deal

Bennett & Lapid have a 31-seat bloc, & reportedly agreed to join the coalition together, or be left out together.

Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid have created a pact between their two parties, agreeing that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will have either both of their parties in his coalition or neither, political sources have told Arutz Sheva.

Together, the two have 31 seats. Netanyahu’s chances of putting together a coalition without either party are not considered good.

Bennett and Lapid banded together due to a shared interest in preventing Netanyahu from creating a coalition that excluded one of them in favor of hareidi-religious or left-wing parties. Continue Reading »

Holocaust survivors protest for 3rd year against Allianz golf tournament

NEW YORK  — Holocaust survivors for a third straight year protested outside a golf tournament in Florida sponsored by Allianz because of what they deem the insurance firm’s restitution failures.

“Not only haven’t I seen any money, this is already 70 years,” said David Schaecter, 83, a Holocaust survivor from Miami who is the president of Holocaust Survivors Foundation USA. Continue Reading »

The Shin Bet, Israel Police and IDF have exposed and arrested a terror cell whose members infiltrated an IDF base on December 21, 2012, attacked a soldier on sentry duty and stole his weapon, an M-16.

The cell belonged to the Fatah movement, which is headed by Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Its members are residents of the Kalandia and a-Ram neighborhoods of Jerusalem. It is made up of five men aged 25 to 37, one of whom is an Israeli citizen. Continue Reading »

Do Stones & Trees REALLY Command Muslims to Kill Jews?

If a Muslim should see a Jewish child hiding behind a stone & suddenly a mysterious voice comes from that stone, one can safely presume that he is suffering from an auditory hallucination.

 

 

If someone tells me, “Come here, there is a Jew here, come and kill him,” I would regard this individual as a psychopath, as no rational Muslim would do that. Even if the Jewish person in question is someone who has committed a crime, he should be put on trial and sentenced by a judge.
