Palestinian sources said that one man was killed and another wounded in the incident.

An army spokeswoman said a group of suspects entered the zone and began sabotaging the security fence, and that soldiers dispatched to the area attempted to persuade them to leave.

The military said soldiers opened fire to break up a violent demonstration by several Gazans who were throwing rocks at soldiers and rolling burning tires at the border fence.

2nd incident in 24 hrs: IDF fires, lightly injures Palestinian on Gaza border

 

After group of Gazans refuse calls by the IDF to vacate the area, and they continued to carry out suspicious activity by border security fence, IDF opened fire.

 

 

A group of Palestinians approached the Israel-Gaza security fence on Sunday morning and began carrying out suspicious activity on the ground near the barrier, an IDF source said.

The army dispatched a unit to the area, which borders northern Gaza, and soldiers asked the suspects to vacate the area. The suspects refused, and soldiers opened fire, lightly injuring one of the men, the source added.

An Arab man from Gaza was wounded by IDF gunfire on Saturday evening after approaching the border fence, sources on both sides said.

A Hamas health ministry official told AFP, without elaborating, that the man was hit east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza by Israeli tank fire.

Eyewitnesses said Israeli tanks and one bulldozer were near the border at the time.

Israeli soldiers opened fire on Arab rioters north of Beit El on Saturday, wounding four of them, Palestinian Authority (PA) medical sources said.

The shooting happened near the Jalazoun neighborhood, the sources said. Beit El is located in the biblical heartland of Samaria, north of Jerusalem.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement that terrorists detonated an explosive device as IDF soldiers were working to blow up parts of the terror tunnel that was recently discovered by IDF soldiers, leading from Gaza into an Israeli kibbutz.

The IDF stated that two Palestinians were injured in the incident. According to Palestinian sources the men were moderately wounded.

The incident came after a rocket was fired from Gaza into southern Israel early on Thursday morning, landing in the Ashkelon Coast Council area.
