Scholarly Islamic cleric visiting Gaza: Israel has no right to exist

A prominent Islamic scholar who is making a landmark visit to the Gaza Strip has declared that Israel has no right to exist.

Yusuf al-Qaradawi said Thursday that “this land has never once been a Jewish land. Palestine is for the Arab Islamic nation.” The Qatar-based cleric was made famous by his popular TV show and is widely respected in the Muslim world.

Al-Qaradawi, who arrived in Gaza accompanied by dozens of clerics, was welcomed by Hamas officials including Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in a ceremonial reception. Continue Reading »

Hamas jail 6 Islamist extremists in Gaza

The statement by the Hamas gov’t in Gaza comes days after an IAF airstrike killed a Salafi who was responsible for recent rocket attack on southern Israel from Gaza and the Sinai.

 

The Gaza Strip’s Hamas government says it has arrested six militant extremists it says is suspected of stealing weapons and plotting attacks.

Kids from Gaza taught to use rocket launchers

Gaza schools are providing military training to teenage boys, teaching them how to fire rocket launchers, Kalashnikov assault rifles and other weapons, The Guardian reported on Sunday.

Members of Hamas’s Izzadin Kassam brigades assist in the training, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Education website. They also teach schoolboys first aid, firefighting and “the values of discipline and responsibility,” the Guardian reported.

According to the Guardian, the school curriculum is supplemented with voluntary camps during school breaks where the boys get further training in handling guns and explosives.

Israel Air Force Strikes Terrorist’s Targets in Gaza

IAF aircraft destroy a weapons storage site & a terror facility in southern Gaza.

IAF aircraft struck a terror facility and a weapons storage site in southern Gaza on Saturday night.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement that direct hits at the targets were identified. All Israeli aircraft returned to their bases safely.

The attack came in response to the recent escalation in rocket attacks from Gaza at southern Israel, said the statement, which stressed that the IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers and the IDF does not intend to allow a return to the reality that existed before Operation Pillar of Defense. Two Rockets Fired at Israel by Gaza Terrorists

Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza fired 2 rockets at southern Israel.

There were no injury or damage reported.

Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza fired two rockets at southern Israel on Thursday evening.

The rockets exploded in an open area of the Eshkol Regional Council, causing no physical injuries or damages.

On Wednesday morning, the Color Red rocket alert siren blared throughout the city of Eilat shortly after 9 a.m. It is believed that terrorists fired three rockets at the city. No casualties were reported.

A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces said the rocket fire had been traced to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, a region which has become a hotbed of terrorist activity since the fall in 2011 of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Continue Reading »

The military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, bulldozed a part of the ancient Anthedon Harbor in northern Gaza along the Mediterranean Sea last month, the Al-Monitor news website reported.

The 3,000-year-old seaport discovered in 1997 was named an international heritage site by UNESCO in 2012, and is the oldest harbor in Gaza.

A United Nations panel says weaponry from Libya is spreading across North Africa to Gaza and Syria “at an alarming rate.”

The five-expert committee said in a 94-page report sent Tuesday to the U.N. Security Council that illegal transfers of arms from Libya to armed groups and terrorists have been proven.

Hamas claimed it arrested Western spies from the US, UK, France and Germany that were operating in the Gaza Strip and targeting the organization, AFP reported on Saturday.
