Cyber warfare unregulated admits IDF Legal adviser

Because there is no convention or international legislation on how a military unit operates in the digital realm, it is still murky legal ground.

 

The field of cyber warfare is unregulated, which makes legal advice in this area particularly important, an Israel Defense Forces legal adviser said Monday.

Speaking at the CyberNight conference at the Shamoon College of Engineering in Be’er Sheva, Maj. A., the Military Intelligence legal adviser, described the role of legal consulting in the era of cybernetic warfare, saying that “Although the field is not regulated – and because the field is not regulated – the legal adviser plays a central role.

Alert IDF Soldiers Discover Illegal Weapons in Terrorist’s Possession

Late Tuesday evening, soldiers from the IDF’s Kfir Brigade discovered 2 automatic assault-rifles & a handgun while carrying out an arrest in the Judea & Samaria region.

Major Shai Kedem, deputy commander of the battalion responsible for the operation, explained how his soldiers uncovered the weapons.

“The incident started as a routine arrest that we carried out after receiving intelligence information,” said Maj. Shai Kedem, an IDF commander whose soldiers uncovered several weapons south of Jenin late Tuesday. During the arrest, the soldiers performed searches and found concealed weapons in the house of a Palestinian terror suspect.

IDF deploys Patriot missile battery near Eilat

 

Israel’s Air Defense Command replaces outdated Hawk anti-missile missile defense with upgraded American Patriot missile interceptor.

A Patriot missile battery was deployed near Eilat in mid-April, as part of an IDF plan to assure permanent protection of the resort city’s sky. Deployed by the Air Defense Command of the IAF, the new Patriot battery replaced the aging Hawk anti-missile platform which was permanently deployed in the area.

1st Hareidi Hesder Yeshiva Combines IDF Cyber-Defense & Torah

Unique ground breaking 4-yr program opened in Jerusalem, integrates 2 years of study with 2 years of service in IDF’s Cyber Defense Unit.

The first hareidi hesder yeshiva has been opened in Jerusalem. The ground-breaking program will combine Torah study with IDF army service.

Last August, the first hareidi mechina, or pre-army preparatory academy, began operating, offering two years of intensive Torah study and preparation for the army, followed by a full three-year service. The hesder program combines military service and Torah study, usually for a period of four to six years. Both options already exist for religious-Zionists, but these two institutions are the first of their kind to cater for hareidi men after they leave high school. Continue Reading »

IDF, Shin Bet arrest Arab cell planning terror attacks on Jewish Israelis

 

The Palestinian terror cell, affiliated with Hamas was arrested just before executing planned bombing and shooting attacks against Israelis.

Security forces led by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) arrested members of a Hamas-affiliated terrorist cell in Kalkilya in recent months, who were plotting a campaign of bombings and shootings against Israeli targets, the Shin Bet announced Wednesday.

Security sources told The Jerusalem Post that the suspects, who were arrested in a series of raids between December and March, were in the early phase of planning terrorist attacks on Israeli targets in the West Bank and within the Green Line.

Online petition demands IDF commander to reinstate soldier

 

‘David’, who was caught on camera cocking his weapon at a Palestinian teenager, was court-martialed for violent offenses by his commander, just prior to this incident.

A Nahal soldier, who was removed from his combat position in the brigade after he was documenting cocking his weapon and aiming it at a Palestinian teenager earlier this week, but a Facebook page with over 71,000 likes is demanding his reinstatement.

30 years ago, Daniel Bana’s Christian Arab father married a Finnish tourist & moved to Finland. Bana 24, now a lone soldier in the IDF, calls Israel his home.

Corporal Daniel Bana, a 24-year-old combat soldier in the Kfir infantry brigade, is not your typical lone soldier. Some 30 years ago his father, a Christian Arab from Kafr Yasif, married a Finnish tourist visiting Israel and moved to southern Finland. They would have seven children.

Gaza detonates improvised explosive device on border in failed attack on IDF

Current data released by IDF show over 100 rockets fired from Gaza at Israel this year, compared to the 9 rockets fired in 2013.

 

 

Palestinian terrorists detonated an explosive device in a failed attempt to attack soldiers carrying out routine security work along the northern border with Gaza on Thursday evening.

The army fired back at the source of the blast, an IDF spokesperson said. There were no injuries reported in the incident.

Palestinian Terrorist kills one Israeli, wounds two outside Hevron

One Israeli was killed and two were wounded Monday evening after an assailant opened fire on three cars driving through the West Bank, the Israel Defense Forces said.
