Gaza fires mortars at IDF troops near border

No injuries or damage reported by IDF.

The Israeli soldiers were on operational patrol duty near the Kissufim border crossing into Gaza.

 

Several mortar shells were fired toward an IDF force operating near the Gaza Strip border just before midnight on Sunday. No one was injured.

The attack occurred near the Kissufim border crossing.

On April 6, Israel Air Force jets struck five targets in the Gaza Strip, after a rocket launched from Gaza landed in an open area near the city of Ashkelon.

Could this be the answer to rocket launching terror cells in Gaza? The IDF is set receive a new model of a GPS-guided mortar shell, developed by Israel Military Industries. The weapon is designed to deliver a quick strike against terrorist cells, especially those in the Gaza Strip, and was given the original name “Morty” (Patzmi, a play on the Hebrew acronym for mortar).

IDF Injured From Gunshot by Suspected Egyptian Smugglers

IDF Spokesperson report confirms one of its soldiers lightly injured during operation to disrupt Sinai smugglers.

An IDF soldier has been lightly injured by gunfire from suspected smugglers along Israel’s southern border with Egypt.

The IDF’s spokesperson’s office would only confirm that the soldier was injured whilst travelling in a jeep near the Sinai Desert, but refused to say in what circumstances.

However, several sources have claimed the soldier was hit by gunfire when the military disrupted an attempt by smugglers to infiltrate the border.

MK Isaac Herzog (Labor) meets with Jordanian king to rescue stalled peace

 

Jordan’s King Abdullah expressed hope that a way to stop the peace talks from collapsing will be found.

Opposition leader Isaac Herzog (Labor) met Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Amman on Monday to discuss the peace process.

“There is an opportunity that won’t repeat itself to reach an arrangement in the Middle East, and a formula must be found to stop the talks from blowing up,” Abdullah said.

IDF publishes ‘Nine Commandments for the Orthodox soldier’

 

As the IDF prepares to induct more religious soldiers into Netzah Yehuda, the army releases pamphlet titled ‘Defending the Nation, Guarding the Torah’ to help Israel’s ultra-orthodox soldiers operate without Shabbat desecration.

In the early morning hours of last Saturday, members of Netzah Yehuda – the IDF’s haredi (ultra-Orthodox) battalion – participated in a special forces operation in the Jenin refugee camp. The haredi soldiers were securing the perimeter of the area of operations; they may have wondered to themselves whether they broke Shabbat before and after the complex operation.

The IDF admits to the difficulties of catering to haredi soldiers and has produced an instructions manual for the battalion, in an attempt to solve a few of the dilemmas faced by religious soldiers who participate in operational actions on Shabbat.

The Israeli military is normally very strict about protecting the identities of their pilots, but one flier’s selfie seems to have proved too impressive not to share on social media.

IDF Shoot & Hit Two Terrorists on Israel’s Syrian Border

IDF soldiers shoot & hit two terrorists attempting to infiltrate into Israel’s Golan Heights from Syria.

IDF soldiers were able to prevent two terrorists from infiltrating into Israel in the Golan Heights, near the border with Syria, on Friday night.

According to the IDF, the soldiers identified two suspects fiddling with the security fence along the border. It is believed they also tried to place an explosive device. The troops open fired, hitting the two terrorists.

“The IDF will continue to protect the border and prevent attacks,” said the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit in a statement quoted by Channel 2 News. Continue Reading »

IDF Capture 2 Terror Suspects Crossing Gaza Fence

The 2 Palestinians caught by the IDF after they breached the security fence to sneak into Israel, are now held during investigation.

The border with Gaza remains turbulent. On Friday, two local Arabs were captured by the IDF after they breached the Gaza security fence.

The two were heading towards Israel for intents that remain unclear. They have been taken for investigation by security forces.

IDF forces discovered two explosives planted against the security fence just this Tuesday, during routine activities in the area. The explosives were neutralized without causing any damage or injuries.

New IDF Rules of Engagement to Golan Hezbollah Attack: Shoot on Sight

IDF soldiers will now shoot on sight when encountering suspicious-looking movement in the area of the Golan Heights border fence with Syria.

The IDF Northern Command on Thursday announced that it was changing its orders regarding opening fire in areas along the Golan border fence. Anyone from the Syrian side who comes near the fence should expect to be shot, the IDF said.

IDF officials say the number of Arabs, Bedioun, Circassians & other minorities who volunteered for the special unit has increased dramatically, including new recruits from East Jerusalem.

For 1st time, IDF published data of pensions being paid

Revealing retirement benefits data for 1st time, IDF is paying out 6.8 billion shekels in 2014 to some 35,000 retirees, with ex-combat soldier, 82, leading pension payments at 63,000 shekels per month.

 

 

In response to a request from Haaretz, the Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson’s Office has published a list revealing the highest pensions being paid to former army personnel. Topping the list is an 82-year-old former combat soldier who receives some 63,000 shekels per month.

The army is expected to pay some 6.8 billion shekels to about 35,000 retirees (the army censor does not allow publication of the exact number) in 2014.

Contrary to Hamas reports, IDF Officials Insist ‘Advanced’ Tunnel Was New

Despite Hamas reports, newly discovered terrorist tunnel contained vital equipment and has signs it’s been used recently.

Senior IDF sources confirmed to Arutz Sheva Friday that the Hamas terror tunnel making its way through the media is not only new – contrary to Hamas’s claims – but highly advanced.

“The tunnel exposed this week is the longest and most elaborate revealed to date,” the official stated. “We found tools, generators and additional equipment which indicates that it was being used in the past several days.”

US & UK urge UN to probe Israeli seizure of Iranian arms ship

 

Officials at the UN reported that if Klos C arms ship did actually originate in Iran, that would have violated standing UN Security Council sanctions.
