Iron Dome Intercepts Gaza Rocket

Iron Dome battery successfully intercepts Gaza rocket on its way to the coastal city of Ashkelon, just after Hamas threatens Israel with ‘fires of hell.’

The Iron Dome anti-missile defense system shot down a rocket Thursday night as it was in the air from Gaza, on its way towards the coastal city of Ashkelon.

Right before the Iron Dome shot down the rocket, “Color Red” warning sirens were heard in the city.

The rocket attack comes after another missile was fired from Gaza earlier on Thursday, exploding in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council area in the northwestern Negev without causing any damage or injuries. Continue Reading »

US General suggests Israel defend Egypt & Jordan with anti-missile shield

 

American Defense Attaché to Israel made the proposal, and the head of Israel Missile Defense Organization was ‘open to the idea.’

TEL AVIV – A US general proposed on Monday that Israel upgrade its anti-missile systems to include neighbouring Jordan and possibly Egypt, and an Israeli official cautiously welcomed the idea.

Terrorist rocket fired at Eilat intercepted by Iron Dome

Police searching the area for remnants after the 2nd Sinai attack on Israel’s southern vacation city this month.

 

An Iron Dome battery deployed near the southern city of Eilat intercepted on Friday a rocket fired from Sinai.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.

Rocket alert sirens went off on Friday evening in Eilat. Residents reported hearing at least two strong blasts at around 9:40 P.M. The municipality called on residents to go into sheltered areas.

Police started combing the area to find the projectile shortly after the blasts. Continue Reading »

Arab Shot Running Towards Iron Dome Position

IDF soldiers shoot at Arab man’s legs after storming the Iron Dome installation screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’.

Soldiers guarding an Iron Dome installation near the city of Eilat fired on an Arab man on Thursday after he ran at them screaming “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for “G-d is great”).

Fearing a terrorist attack, the soldiers shot at the man’s legs in order to stop him. The man was hit and injured.

He was taken to Eilat’s Yoseftal Hospital. It is not yet clear whether the man is armed and was attempting a terrorist attack, or is mentally ill. Continue Reading »

IDF to deploy laser interceptor ‘Iron Beam’ to neutralizer short-range artillery threats

 

Another Israeli technologically advanced defensive system that deals with threats that fly on too small a trajectory to be engaged efficiently by Iron Dome, to be deployed in 2015.

Israel plans to deploy a new missile shield known as “Iron Beam” next year which would use a laser to blow up short-range rockets and mortar bombs, a defense industry official said on Sunday.

IDF Positions Iron Dome to Protect Sharon Burial from Gaza Rockets

Ironically, the tight security for Ariel Sharon’s Negev funeral demonstrates the lack of peace the Disengagement produced.

Security for the funeral of Ariel Sharon Monday is among the tightest for any funeral in Israel’s history. Hundreds of soldiers and police will be on hand, and helicopters, light planes, and drones will fly above the funeral procession as it works its way south from Jerusalem to Sharon’s Negev ranch. The Iron Dome system will also be on alert, in case Gaza Arab terrorists decide to fire rockets at the Negev as Sharon is being buried.

US defense bill allocates additional funding for joint U.S-Israel projects

Report: Operation Pillar of Defense a Success – Fewer rockets fired at Israel

 

 

IDF proudly showcases Pillar of Defense achievements: 2013 sees substantially fewer rockets fired on Israel.

Hamas weakened due to regional circumstances with loss of capacity in terror organization.

Since the conclusion of Operation Pillar of Defense, aimed at restoring calm to the residents of southern Israel, 67 rockets and mortal shells were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel, and additional five rockets were fired from Sinai into Eilat. These figures compare to 641 launches aimed at Israel in the previous year.

Jerusalem gets Iron Dome battery

 

Israel’s Iron Dome Missile defense battery was set up just outside the capital ‘in accordance with IDF ‘situation assessments’

The Air Force set up an Iron dome missile defense battery in the Jerusalem area on Sunday, as the United States lobbied for domestic and international support for military strikes against Syria. The decision was made after situation assessments by the IDF.

A military spokeswoman would not comment on the deployment, saying only that “defense systems are deployed in accordance with situation assessments.”

Late last month, Iran’s army chief of staff General Hassan Firouzabadi warned: “Any military action against Syria will drive the Zionists to the edge of fire.” Continue Reading »
