Senior UN official shields Hamas’ appropriation of cement for terror tunnels

 

Despite tedious and insufficient progress repairing residential neighborhoods after Hamas received 1.2 million tons of cement & construction materials ,UN Assistant Secretary-General says there’s ‘no proof’ Hamas uses aid materials for ‘military purposes,’ i.e. dozens of newly dug terror-tunnels.

UN Assistant Secretary-General Robert Piper claims that there is no proof that Hamas is taking advantage of UN-provided construction material for “military purposes,” the pro-Hamas Middle East Monitor reports.

IDF: Hamas’ new terror-tunnels built stronger, more durable

 

The newer tunnels built after Operation Protective Edge benefit from sturdier construction methods, improving structural integrity, which make them less likely to collapse due to rainfall.

When comparing the tunnels discovered and destroyed during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014 with the tunnel discovered two weeks ago, it is clear that Hamas has greatly improved the structural engineering of its tunnel and its construction methods.

The wall of the tunnels discovered during Operation Protective Edge consisted of pre-cast concrete slabs placed vertically, with reinforced concrete arches above them to prevent the tunnel from collapsing due to the weight of the soil above it.

The IDF detected a deep Hamas cross-border tunnel in recent days, stretching from the southern Gaza Strip into Israel. The discovery of the tunnel was kept under a media ban until Monday morning.

Hamas’ army of 1000 tunnel diggers keeps Gaza’s lucrative terror business alive

 

Beyond enabling smuggling from Egypt into Gaza, other tunnels are used by Hamas’ elite combat unit, Al Nukhbeh, which recently lost several fighters when a tunnel they were practicing attacks on Israel collapsed.

Hamas reports to have found Israeli surveillance robot in a Gaza terror-tunnel

 

Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh announced that his Islamic group found an underground IDF vehicle equipped with sensors & cameras that monitored their tunnels.

Hamas claimed on Friday it has captured an Israeli vehicle for monitoring tunnels under the border with Gaza, AFP reports.

Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’s leader in Gaza, said that 10 days ago the group’s armed wing “discovered an underground vehicle on which were installed cameras and sensors to monitor tunnels and fighters.”

Speaking in a sermon at Muslim prayers in the Shati refugee camp where he lives, Haniyeh said the find gave the movement an “advantage.” Continue Reading »

Dropping like flies: Another Palestinian terrorist killed in Hamas terror-tunnel collapse

 

According to Palestinian sources, the terror-tunnel was located under Gaza’s border with Egypt and collapsed from intentional flooding by Egypt’s military.

A Hamas operative was reportedly killed in the Gaza Strip on Monday in the third deadly tunnel collapse to occur in the coastal enclave in less than two weeks. According to Palestinian sources, the tunnel was located under the border with Egypt and collapsed due to flooding caused by the Egyptian military.

Hamas billionaire leader Ismail Haniyeh, says his Islamic group is preparing daily for its next conflict with Israel, and is constantly working on building newer offensive attack-tunnels & replenishing its vast rocket supply.

IDF: Israel has facilitated the entry of 1,700,000 tons of construction material into Gaza (since end of 2014 conflict) that Hamas is seizing for its construction of attack tunnels.

Rafah resident Ibrahim A’adel Shahada Shaer, 21, was arrested in early July as part of a joint Shin Bet [Israel Security Agency] and Israeli police operation, the IDF spokesperson said in a statement.

Egypt digs trench on its Gaza border to neutralize Hamas terror-tunnels

After destroying a kilometer-wild buffer-zone along its Rafah border with Gaza, the army now digs 20 meter deep trench to fortify its security in Sinai against Islamist militant attacks, which Egypt claims are supported by Hamas.

ISMAILIA – The Egyptian army is digging a trench in northern Sinai along the border with Gaza in an effort to prevent smuggling, security sources said on Monday, as the government steps up activities to prevent militant attacks that often target security forces.
