Senior UN official shields Hamas’ appropriation of cement for terror tunnels

 

Despite tedious and insufficient progress repairing residential neighborhoods after Hamas received 1.2 million tons of cement & construction materials ,UN Assistant Secretary-General says there’s ‘no proof’ Hamas uses aid materials for ‘military purposes,’ i.e. dozens of newly dug terror-tunnels.

UN Assistant Secretary-General Robert Piper claims that there is no proof that Hamas is taking advantage of UN-provided construction material for “military purposes,” the pro-Hamas Middle East Monitor reports.

IDF: Hamas’ new terror-tunnels built stronger, more durable

 

The newer tunnels built after Operation Protective Edge benefit from sturdier construction methods, improving structural integrity, which make them less likely to collapse due to rainfall.

When comparing the tunnels discovered and destroyed during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014 with the tunnel discovered two weeks ago, it is clear that Hamas has greatly improved the structural engineering of its tunnel and its construction methods.

The wall of the tunnels discovered during Operation Protective Edge consisted of pre-cast concrete slabs placed vertically, with reinforced concrete arches above them to prevent the tunnel from collapsing due to the weight of the soil above it.

Hamas reports to have found Israeli surveillance robot in a Gaza terror-tunnel

 

Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh announced that his Islamic group found an underground IDF vehicle equipped with sensors & cameras that monitored their tunnels.

Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’s leader in Gaza, said that 10 days ago the group’s armed wing “discovered an underground vehicle on which were installed cameras and sensors to monitor tunnels and fighters.”

A Hamas operative was reportedly killed in the Gaza Strip on Monday in the third deadly tunnel collapse to occur in the coastal enclave in less than two weeks. According to Palestinian sources, the tunnel was located under the border with Egypt and collapsed due to flooding caused by the Egyptian military.
