Egypt acknowledges destroying over 3,000 Gaza terror-tunnels

The Egyptian Army Spokesperson admitted in a TV interview, that to curtail terrorism in the Sinai, the army destroyed over 3000 terror & smuggling tunnels on their Gaza border, some were as long as 3 km and as deep as 30 meters.

Egypt has destroyed more than 3,000 tunnels along its border with the Gaza Strip in the past five years, Egyptian Army Spokesperson Tamer Al-Refai has revealed.

Egypt destroyed, flooded with sea water or sewage, 37 tunnels from Gaza in 2018

The Egyptian army began destroying Hamas’ tunnels from Gaza following the September 2013 coup, that saw the ousting of Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi, who became President after being busted out of an Egyptian prison by hundreds of armed militants who entered Egypt via the Gaza tunnels.

The Egyptian military destroyed 37 cross-border tunnels linking the Gaza Strip to the Sinai Peninsula over the past year, the country’s military has announced.

GRAPHIC VIDEO: Egyptian soldiers shoot & kill naked Palestinian who illegally crossed Gaza-Sinai border

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip were enraged on Saturday after Al Jazeera television aired footage of Egyptian soldiers shooting and killing a Palestinian man who had wandered into the Egypt side of the Rafah crossing through the beach.

In the clip, the man is seen entering the water along the Sinai-Gaza divide. After he steps a few meters into the Egyptian side, he is hit by live fire.

The victim has been identified as Ishak Khalil Hassan, 28, from the Gaza City neighborhood of Zeitoun. Continue Reading »

Egypt’s army destroyed 20 more smuggling tunnels under Gaza border in November

 

The 20 tunnels that were found & destroyed in November are part of Egypt’s policy, after it cleared a buffer zone along the Gaza border last year, in its attempt to eliminate the cross-border network of tunnels used for terrorism in the Sinai, & smuggling weapons to Hamas and other terror organizations in Gaza.

Reported: Cairo permits IDF crossing into Sinai to ‘deal with’ African migrants

London based Asharq al-Awsat daily  reported that on August 1, 15 migrants from Eritrea & Sudan were shot at by Egyptian troops during their attempted illegal entry into Israel through Egyptian territory.

Egypt permitted an Israeli army patrol to cross into the Sinai Peninsula and evacuate African refugees who were shot by Egyptian troops as they were trying to scale the wall along the border, the Arab-language daily Asharq al-Awsat reported on Thursday.

Israeli Expert: Egyptian Forces ‘Unsuccessful’, IDF May Have to Engage ISIS

Israel’s former ambassador to Egypt, Zvi Mazel, currently a researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA), believes that the Egyptian army is not going to be able to successfully fight ISIS. In the end, he believes, the IDF is going to have to do the job.

Egypt digs trench on its Gaza border to neutralize Hamas terror-tunnels

An investigation in Egypt is underway into a November 14 incident during which Islamic State members successfully hijacked an Egyptian missile boat.

According to Arab media reports Monday, the assailants planned to then attack and hijack an Israeli ship to use as leverage for the release of Palestinian prisoners.

The incident reportedly took place in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, by the Suez canal.

Islamic terror attack kills dozens of Egyptian troops in Sinai

 

At least 25 Egyptian soldiers were killed with dozens more wounded by a car bomb that targeted a Sinai security checkpoint near Gaza border.

 

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi convened an emergency meeting of his senior defense advisers on Friday just hours after a deadly terrorist attack claimed the lives of at least 25 soldiers in the Sinai Peninsula.

Two Egyptian army officers and a soldier were killed Saturday when a smuggling tunnel connecting Sinai and the Gaza Strip collapsed as they were preparing to blow it up, officials said.

One soldier was injured and another missing in the collapse, which happened as troops were planting explosives.

The army says it has destroyed more than 1,600 such tunnels – most of them since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi last year – which the Hamas terrorist group uses to smuggle in arms, equipment and money. Continue Reading »

A Palestinian man trying to infiltrate Sinai through a smuggling tunnel was shot dead and two others arrested by the Egyptian army on Saturday, Palestinian media reported.

The three were spotted exiting a tunnel near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on the Egyptian side of Rafah.
