Southern Israel Hit By Rocket from Egypt

Jihadists in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula fire rocket that explodes in southern Israel, forcing residents into bomb shelters.

A rocket fired from Egypt exploded in southern Israel’s Gaza belt region Friday afternoon.

Residents of the area were forced into rocket shelters after sirens sounded at approximately 4:20 p.m.  No damage or injuries has been reported.

The IDF temporarily closed Route 12 as a “security precaution.”

Unlike other recent rocket attacks, which have broken the relative calm since the truce signed between Israel and terrorist groups in Gaza, this attack did not come from the Gaza Strip but from within Egyptian territory.

IDF reports: Following warning shots into the air, IDF Commander shot Palestinian dead after his vehicle was being ambushed in the West Bank.

In response to being pelted with stones, a brigade commander in the IDF’s Judea and Samaria Division shot and killed a Palestinian on Friday morning.

IDF General Says Hamas Assisted in ISIS Sinai Strike Killing Egyptian Forces

Israel said Thursday that Hamas was actively assisting the ISIS terrorist militia that killed over 70 Egyptian soldiers in a multi-pronged attack Wednesday.

“We have clear informatin that Hamas supports the Walayat Sinai organization, which belongs to ISIS,” Major General Yoav Mordechai said, in an Arabic-language interview for Al Jazeera.

The call was made after members of the faction held an urgent meeting following the recent attacks. During the meeting, party chairman Naftali Bennett informed the members of the party about his meeting with Netanyahu.

It is somewhat ironic that the most vocal supporters of the Palestinian cause are ultra-liberals who also champion issues such as gay rights, given that Palestinian society does not tolerate homosexuals. In other words, they are fighting for the creation of a state that would suppress the very rights they demand elsewhere.

2nd Temple-era ritual bath found beneath Jerusalem living room

During home renovations, a family from Jerusalem discovered a 2,000 yr-old mikveh right underneath their floors, verifying that there was an earlier Jewish settlement at the site.

Renovations in a Jerusalem home recently uncovered an ancient mikveh (ritual bath) dating from the Second Temple Period, believed to be over 2,000 years old.

The couple that lives in the home installed wooden doors leading to the mikveh and invited representatives of the Israel Antiquities Authority to document the discovery.

They were on Wednesday to receive a certificate of appreciation from the Authority for reporting the discovery.

The mikveh is considered relatively large, at 3.5 meters long, 2.4 meters wide and 1.8 meters deep. Continue Reading »
