Israel orders an additional 17 next-generation F-35 fighter jets

 

Israel’s Security Cabinet has approved the acquisition of an additional 17 F-35i (Adir) fighter jets, bringing the total for Israel’s Air Force to a fleet of 50.

Israel said on Sunday that it will expand its fleet of next-generation F-35 fighter jets in a move that officials believe will help maintain the country’s qualitative military edge over its Mideast neighbors for years to come.

Air Supply invites 200 wives of Israeli firefighters to Haifa performance

JTA – After postponing a concert in Haifa last week due to the massive fires, soft rock band Air Supply gave away 200 tickets to the wives of Israeli firefighters.

REPORT: Iran’s deal to purchase Russian fighter jets appears more bravado than realistic

 

The Iranian plan was to acquire Sukhoi Su-30 fighters jets, but that would need the approval of the United Nations Security Council, and would further strain Russian relations with allies like Israel, Saudi Arabia and possibly a Trump gov’t in the United States.

Iran’s Defense Ministry said it plans to modernize the country’s air force fleet, but denied reports earlier on Saturday that it wanted to buy Russian Sukhoi Su-30 fighter planes, news agencies reported.

The Israeli Air Force struck and killed a cell of terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State group in Syria after shots were fired across the border at military forces in the Golan Heights on Sunday morning, according to an IDF statement.

In the first clashes between the IDF and an IS-linked group, the Israeli air force allegedly struck four operatives from the ISIS-linked Khalid ibn al-Walid Army (formerly known as Yarmouk Martyrs’ Brigade) who had initially opened fire at IDF forces in the southern Golan Heights at around 8:30am, east of the community of Avnei Eitan. PLO calls for UN boycott of Jewish ‘settlements’

 

The PLO Executive Committee called on the submission of a resolution to the UN Security Council confirming the illegality of Jewish “settlements” in Judea and Samaria and the implementation of an independent State of Palestine within the borders of June 4, 1967 with its capital in eastern Jerusalem.

A Palestinian Arab armed with a knife on Friday afternoon tried to stab security forces at the Shuafat checkpoint, near Jerusalem.

Security forces reacted quickly and were able to kill the terrorist before he was able to carry out the attack.

Azerbaijan has dispatched a fire plane to Israel on Friday, it was reported across various Israeli media, joining 16 other foreign planes currently active or in transit to combat the wave of flames that has engulfed much of Israel since Tuesday.

The world’s largest fire-fighting supertanker set to land at Israel’s Ben-Gurion Airport Friday to extinguish the hundreds of fires burning throughout the Jewish State.

The 747 Supertanker, the world’s largest fire-fighting aircraft, will arrive in Israel on Friday to help put out the many wildfires that have struck the country.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a press conference on Thursday that he had ordered authorities to bring the American plane to Israel as quickly as possible.
