Rio’s new mayor says city should have “walls like Jerusalem”

 

Having visited Israel dozens of times, Rio’s new mayor-elect told Jewish leaders that he wished the Brazilian city was ‘walled like Jerusalem,’ to prevent weapons & drugs from being brought in.

The mayor-elect of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella, declared that Brazil’s second largest city should surround itself with “walls like Jerusalem.”

The major-elect, who is also an evangelical bishop, said the walls could prevent the entry of arms and drugs.

Unique 3,800 yr-old jug designed with human sculpture unearthed near Tel Aviv

 

The students that participate in the excavation of the unique pottery vessel are part of a new training curriculum, which seeks to connect them with the past, and help secure archaeologists of the future.

A rare and unusual 3,800-year-old jug from the Middle Bronze Age, featuring a human sculpture, was recently unearthed during an excavation in the city of Yehud, near Tel Aviv, with the assistance of area students, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced on Wednesday.

Most Countries Restrict Mosque Outdoor Loudspeakers, So Why Can’t Israel?

 

Saudi Arabia ruled that calls to prayer could only be amplified by a mosque’s indoor loudspeakers, and the UAE & Egypt have restricted the use of loudspeakers, but, when Israel seeks to restrict the noise level, Palestinians make it an international affair.

Quite the controversy is raging over Israel’s proposed legislation aimed at muffling the five daily Muslim calls to prayer from local mosques. In recent decades, the call of the muezzin has been amplified by multiple loudspeakers, resulting in tremendous noise pollution starting at 4:30 AM every morning.

Israel’s envoy to the UN, Danny Danon, sent an urgent letter to the Security Council, “The Iranian Al-Quds Force packs weapons, ammunition and missile technology to Hezbollah in suitcases and puts them on Mahan Air flights.”

Iran is smuggling weapons and ammunition to Hezbollah through commercial flights from the Islamic Republic to Lebanon, according to intelligence information revealed by Israel’s UN ambassador to the Security Council, which was cleared for publication on Tuesday.

A Palestinian boat disguised as a fishing vessel was caught on camera by the IDF while attempting to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip before eventually being destroyed.

A Palestinian Arab, who quickly charged a security guard with knife drawn, was neutralized during his attack by an alert IDF soldier at a Jerusalem checkpost.

The incident took place in the Kalandia checkpoint, the main point of entry for Palestinian Authority residents entering Jerusalem.

Swiss government refuses to follow neighbouring countries where Jews or Jewish institution may be targeted in violent attacks, saying, ‘There is no constitutional basis permitting the federal state in funding the costs.’

Switzerland’s Jews need to fund their own security costs, a Swiss government agency said in a report on anti-Semitism.

The unusual assertion came in a report published last week by the Swiss interior ministry’s Service for the Fight against Racism.
