Israel’s Defense Minister calls to shun Joint List for boycotting Peres’ funeral

 

Joint List Chairman slams Lieberman’s initiative to have gov’t Knesset members walk out during Knesset speeches by Joint List MKs because of their refusal to attend or participate in Shimon Peres’s funeral.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has requested from Coalition Leader MK David Bitan to sanction a decision demanding that the coalition boycott the Joint List in the Knesset.

The initiative was formed shortly after the Joint List presided over a boycott of the funeral of Israel’s former President Shimon Peres.

Two people were killed and six others injured after a terrorist opened fire Sunday morning opposite the police station in northern Jerusalem, according to reports by MDA and police.

The attack took place at two different locations. A white car stopped and opened fire at the Ammunition Hill light rail station, located at the Central Police Headquarters intersection, injuring those standing at the station. Incoming United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has been and will always be a friend of Israel, former Israeli officials who have met with him toldThe Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

Guterres came to Israel in 1993 as secretary-general of the Portuguese Socialist Party and leader of Portugal’s opposition.

He met with then-foreign minister Shimon Peres and then-industry and trade minister Micha Harish.

Saudi Arabia unblocks internet access to ‘The Jerusalem Post’

 

On Monday a Saudi journalist confirmed on Twitter that he can now access the ‘The Jerusalem Post’ news site from there on his mobile device.

 

After years without reliable verification, a Saudi Arabian journalist confirmed on Monday that Saudis can now access The Jerusalem Post online from inside the Kingdom.

A reader in Saudi Arabia also wrote on Twitter on Monday that he can now access the site from there on his mobile device.

It is unclear when the Kingdom stopped censoring JPost.com, but it apparently blocked access to the site beginning in May 2013. Continue Reading »

US harshly condemns Israel for adding settlement homes in West Bank

 

In an unusually strong statement, the White House & US State Department called plans to construct a ‘significant’ new settlement of up to 300 housing units in the West Bank ‘deeply troubling’ and undermines the peace process.
