Lebanon Bans Wonder Woman, Starring Israeli IDF Veteran, Gal Gadot

BDS in Lebanon succeeded in banning the movie staring ex-IDF soldier Gal Gadot.

On Tuesday, the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Commerce announced that it has sent a letter to the state’s general-security administration to take steps to prevent the screening of the film “Wonder Woman,” which stars Israeli actress Gal Gadot, according to Yediot Ahronot.

The campaign against Wonder Woman began in April, when the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement sent a letter to the ministry’s Office for Boycott of Israel in the Lebanese Economic Ministry. It was noted that Gadot is the former beauty queen of Israel, who served in the IDF and publicly supported 2014’s Operation Protective Edge in Gaza.

BDS attacks Arab town’s community center over coexistence policies

 

REPORT: The community center in the Christian-Arab town of Beit Jala near Jerusalem has come under attack by BDS activists for ‘holding joint yoga sessions between Arabs and Israelis.’

An Arab community center has itself become the target of the BDS movement for holding joint activities with Israelis.

0404 reported that a community center in the Christian-Arab town of Beit Jala near Jerusalem became an object of rage for BDS activists, who claimed that the center had held joint sports activities for Israelis and Arabs.

Wisconsin students pass BDS resolution blaming Israel for violence against African-Americans

 

During the debate over a divestment resolution, University of Wisconsin anti-Israel activists called the Jewish community “oppressors”, saying Jewish students oppose divestment against Israel because it threatens their “white privilege.”

The student government of the University of Wisconsin-Madison unanimously passed on Wednesday a divestment resolution targeting companies operating in many countries that included an amendment specifically about Israel.

An amendment added to the one-page resolution, which Jewish students said brought the resolution more in line with the proposal that failed a month ago, blames Israel for police violence against African-Americans, citing an exchange program in which senior American police officers travel to Israel to learn about counterterrorism, the pro-Israel organization StandWithUS said in a statement. Israel arrests BDS founder Omar Barghouti for tax evasion

 

BDS co-founder Omar Barghouti, the Qatari Arab who moved to Israel and studied at Tel Aviv University, was arrested for allegedly concealing $700,000 of income from tax authorities.

One of the founders of the international Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement has been arrested for concealing large sums of money from tax authorities.

Police say Omar Barghouti, founder of both the BDS movement and the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel, was arrested on suspicion he committed tax evasion over the past decade, concealing $700,000 in earned income from tax authorities.

#BDSfail: Events scheduled for both Frankfurt and Bonn, cancelled

 

The Jewish communities and Wiesenthal Center welcomed the decisions of cancelling the separate pro-Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions conferences that were set to take place in Frankfurt and also in Bonn.

After a wave of objections to a boycott-Israel event scheduled for next week in Bonn, Germany, the Jewish community there on Monday announced its delight with cancellation of the gathering and a widely criticized antisemitic talk that was to be given at it.

A separate pro-Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions conference set to take place in June in Frankfurt was also canceled.

Israel refuses entry to British pro-Palestinian activist and BDS promoter

 

The refusal to allow entry of the chairman of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, which works to promote boycotts to harm the Jewish State, is in accordance to the policies set by Israel’s Ministry of Strategic Affairs, the Immigration Authority and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Unprecedented #BDSfail: Swiss gov’t prohibits state funding of BDS

Marking the first time any European parliament acknowledged the moral equivalence and/or correlation between anti-Semitism and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, the Swiss parliament now prohibits government funding of BDS, categorizing it along with other racist and anti-Semitic organizations.

Switzerland’s parliament made an unprecedented decision on Wednesday to prevent the state from “financing any organization which supports racism, anti-Semitism, or the BDS.”

Spanish courts nullify 2 anti-Israel resolutions passed by local municipalities

 

With Spain having the highest number of anti-Israel municipal rulings in Europe, Spanish Courts have begun to take a hard line against the BDS movement, as panels of judges in Barcelona & Valencia begin overturning those decisions to boycott Israel.

Judges in the Spanish cities of Valencia and Barcelona have overturned two anti-Israel decisions passed by Spanish municipalities under the auspices of the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement (BDS).

The decisions were passed by the local councils of Xeraco, south of Valencia, and Olesa de Montserrat, near Barcelona in the Catalon region.

Under pressure, SodaStream relocated from the West Bank to Israel’s Negev, employing Israeli Bedouin, when 600 Palestinians lost their jobs as a result of the move.

Israeli immigration officials apologized to American activist after airport questioning

 

A Jewish, senior executive of the New Israel Fund, an American organization that funds left-wing groups such as B’Tselem and Breaking the Silence, was interviewed for an hour upon her arrival at Ben Gurion Airport.

Israeli immigration officials on Thursday apologized over their treatment of a senior executive from a liberal Jewish-American group who was interrogated for an hour on her arrival in Tel Aviv the previous day.

Jennifer Gorovitz, a vice president of the New Israel Fund, said she was questioned about her nonprofit group’s activities. The New Israel Fund supports a number of liberal, progressive groups in Israel, some of which have been criticized by the Israeli government. Continue Reading »

Publicly EU denounces BDS, then passes €MILLION$ to pro-BDS organizations

 

Despite the often repeated, publicly given anti-BDS declarations, the EU continues funding millions of euros to pro-BDS organizations that promote anti-Israel protests, accuses Israel of perpetrating “massacres,” “cultural genocide,” “apartheid” and regularly issues posters and caricatures demonizing the Jewish State, some of which are virulently antisemitic.

Oxfam charities chief: Firing Johansson over SodaStream was a fiasco

 

Oxfam International confederation of charities head admits support for BDS inspired confrontation with actress Scarlett Johansson, over her association with the Israeli company Sodastream, cost Oxfam thousands of donors.

The head of the Oxfam International confederation of charities admitted that the organization’s public spat with former celebrity ambassador Scarlett Johansson over her support of the Israeli company Sodastream was a mistake which cost the organization thousands of donors, the Guardian reported.

600 Palestinians worked at the SodaStream factory in the Mishor Adumim industrial park, next to the West Bank settlement of Maale Adumim before it was forced to relocate.

The Bank für Sozialwirtschaft (Bank for Social Economy) has closed the account of a German group that promotes the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against the Jewish state.

Paris regional council adopts amendment that outlaws funding BDS promoters

The council of the Ile-de-France region, where right-wing parties have a majority, adopted the amendment Thursday, the Le Monde Juif website reported the following day.
