Trump Transition Team Tells Israel to ‘Calm Down’

Trump’s transition team says US president-elect is unhappy with wild Israeli assumptions over his future US-Israel policies.

US President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team has urged Israel to bridle its overt excitement over their candidate’s surprise victory and what it could mean for the Jewish settlement enterprise.

“We’ve been receiving official messages from Trump’s team. They’re expecting us to act modestly,” Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman told a press conference on Wednesday. “There are people in his close circle that we know well, they’re telling us ,‘Wait. Don’t set facts on the ground.’”

Canada restores aid to UNRWA with $25 million pledge

 

Canadian funding to UNRWA had been stopped under former PM Stephen Harper’s Conservative gov’t in 2010, after examples of how the corrupted UN agency was linked to Gaza-based Hamas, deemed a terrorist group by Canada.

Canada will provide $25 million in aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees, it was announced Wednesday, restoring government support for the agency that had been frozen over alleged ties to the Islamist militant group Hamas.

International Development Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau said that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s federal Liberal government was granting the agency $20 million to support education, health, social services and immediate humaitarian assistance for millions of Palestinians, and an additional $5 million in response an appeal for assistance for those refugees impacted by the crisis in Syria. The Tel Aviv University researchers’ study, published in the journal Translational Psychiatry, describe a gene that codes for a particular protein, leading to neurotransmission. As a result, future therapies should be able to halt its progression.

A recent discovery by researchers at Tel Aviv University may soon change the way Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed and treated.

The study, published in the journal Translational Psychiatry, describe a gene that codes for a particular protein that researchers discovered.

The protein then turns off signals that it normally produces.

That process, in turn, blocks the brain from moving brain chemicals in their regular manner, also known as neurotransmission, thereby contributing to Alzheimer’s disease. Continue Reading »

Oberlin College sacks professor after posting anti-Semitic remarks

 

Although Karega’s blatantly anti-Semitic social media posts included one accusing Israel and “Rothschild-led bankers” of owning “Your news. The media. Your oil. And your government,” and another suggesting that Israel was behind the attack on the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris, and responsibility for downing a Malaysian airliner over Ukraine in 2014, Karega appeared to blame the college governors & administration of persecuting her because she is black.

An Oberlin College assistant professor whose anti-Semitic social media posts outraged many alumni and faculty earlier this year has been dismissed.

Historical First: Israeli Jewish & Arab births are equal

 

No longer a demographic threat in Israel, as Jewish women are having more and more children, while Arab mothers have been doing the opposite.

Israel’s Bureau of Statistics this week announced that for the first time in the history of the modern State of Israel, the Jewish birth rate is on par with the Arab birth rate. Both Jewish and Arab women are having an average of 3.13 children.

Israel’s PM Netanyahu: Jerusalem in ‘close contact’ with Moscow to avoid Syria misunderstandings

 

Speaking to IDF soldiers, Israel’s PM assures them that, “The reality in the Middle East is changing very rapidly, and not necessarily to our detriment.”

 

Israel is in “close contact” with Moscow, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday, the day Russia launched a major new offensive in Syria.

Netanyahu, on a visit to the new military training complex named after Ariel Sharon in the Negev, was asked about Russia’s presence in Syria by a soldier.

Israeli missile boats modified to repel naval cyber ‘intrusions’ by foreign military vessels

 

Israel’s Navy is equipping its missile boats with crews & electronics that will safeguard the country’s shores from probing cyber encroachments.

Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov has recently arrived at the shores of Syria accompanied by its companion vessels. The ships are in the area as a deterrent measure, but also in order to collect intelligence via electronic means. As a response, the Israeli Navy has upgraded its cyber warfare capabilities, placing special crews onto its missile boats.

The oldest stone inscription of the Ten Commandments discovered so far is being auctioned this week with an opening bid of $250,000 and the requirement that the owner must put the artifact on public display, CNN reported on Tuesday.

Netanyahu inaugurated $6 billion Intel production line in Southern Israel

 

PM Netanyahu went to Kiryat Gat to visit Israel’s new Intel production line that created 1,000 new jobs. “This is where the vision of the future comes true in the present,” Netanyahu said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday inaugurated the new Intel production line in Kiryat Gat, in southern Israel, where the American technology giant maintains a semiconductor fabrication plant.

The new, $6 billion production line, was set up with a $300 million government grant, creating 1,000 new jobs.

Medical mission from Israel, Germany treat pediatric heart patients in Tanzania

 

Israeli based Save A Child’s Heart, sent a multi-national team to Tanzania to assist a local hospital improve the cardiac care for children with heart disease.

A joint Israeli-German medical mission composed of teams from Wolfson Medical Center and the Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin, earlier this month carried out a 5-day mission to Tanzania, the mission’s organizer told i24news.

The five-day mission, which began on Novermber 1, was organized by Save A Child’s Heart (SACH), an Israeli-based non-profit organization, working around the world to improve the cardiac care for children from developing countries, and carried out in partnership with the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Dar es Salaam.
