Amb. Nikki Haley: U.S. to vote ‘no’ on annual anti-Israel UN resolution

Ambassador Haley reported that this year the US will vote “no” on the annual UN resolution that condemns the Israeli “occupation” of the Golan Heights, because “the atrocities the Syrian regime continues to commit prove its lack of fitness to govern anyone,”  while endangering Israel’s security.

The US announced on Thursday that it plans to vote “no” on an annual resolution at the UN condemning Israel’s alleged “occupation” of the Golan Heights.

The annual resolution, entitled “The Occupied Syrian Golan”, is scheduled for a vote on Friday, November 16.

In the past, the US had abstained in the vote, but in a statement, the US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, explained why this year the American delegation would vote against the resolution. Continue Reading »

Russia joins UN patrols along Syria-Israel frontier

With the return of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force to the frontier between Syria and Israel, Russia announces its military police will assist them until all UN patrols along the border are fully restored.

The Russian military said Tuesday that its forces in Syria will help UN peacekeepers fully restore patrols along the volatile frontier between Syria and the Israeli Golan Heights.

The Russian deployment in the area has highlighted Moscow’s growing clout in the region, marking a successful attempt to balance the sharply conflicting interests of Israel and Iran.

United Nations Disengagement Observer Force officials conducted joint patrols with Russian military police in a reflection of Moscow’s deepening role in mediating between the decades-old foes in the volatile region.

As Assad retakes Golan Heights, IDF closes Field Clinic for internal refugees

IDF closes it’s Golan Heights medical field clinic, the Mazor Ladach, that had provided treatment to some 6,800 displaced and deprived Syrians that had no access to medical help or medicines in their war-torn country.

A field clinic built by the IDF and providing care to injured Syrians has been closed, the IDF’s Spokesperson’s Unit announced on Friday.

The Mazor Ladach (whose name translates into Bandaging Those In Need) was a field clinic opened in August 2017 and located in an unused military post in the southern Golan Heights on the Syrian border.

IDF air-strike kills 7 ISIS terrorists in Syria, issues warning to Assad

IDF fighter-jets killed 7 armed Islamic State terrorists in the Syrian part of the southern Golan Heights on Wednesday night, and after search of the area this morning, explosive belts and an AK-47 assault weapon were recovered.

Israeli planes attacked a number of armed terrorists in the southern part of the Syrian Golan Heights on Wednesday night, killing seven terrorists.

After the area was searched this morning, explosive belts and a Kalashnikov rifle were found.

REPORT: ISIS beaten, driven out of last Syrian villages near Golan Heights

Despite the fact that the IDF have forcefully engaged both ISIS and Syrian rebel groups when they’ve attacked Israel, the Syrian regime continues to assert the narrative that describes ISIS as part of a resistance force created by the US, Israel, and Syrian rebels.

Islamic State was driven out from the last major villages it still held near the Golan Heights – in an area called the Yarmouk Basin – on Monday, according to the Syrian regime and local websites.

BREAKING: Israel shoots down Syrian jet

Sirens sound in Israel’s north for the second day, as the IDF launches Patriot ground-to-air interceptors at Syrian plane intruding into Israeli airspace.

Sirens sounded Tuesday afternoon in regional councils in the Golan Heights and the Jordan Valley, as well as in the northern city of Katzrin.

Residents of northern Israel reported that two interceptor missiles were fired from the Tzfat region.

The IDF confirmed that two Patriot missiles had been fired at a Syrian Sukhoi plane. The plane was being tracked, and when it reached two kilometers (1.24 miles) into Israel, it was shot down. Continue Reading »

Netanyahu, very pleased Trump, Putin meeting agreed on Israel security needs

PM Netanyahu commended and thanked both Trump and Putin for addressing Israeli concerns, both agreeing that Israel’s border with Syria should be secured according to the terms of the 1974 UN ceasefire agreement.

IDF unit retaliates with strike on Syria outpost that fired mortar at Israel

Not specifying whether the target belonged to the rebels or regime, IDF forces strikes the Syria outpost that earlier fired a mortar towards Israel, which fell in the “buffer zone” adjacent to Israel’s border fence.

The Israel Defense Force said it on on Friday that it struck a Syrian outpost after a stray mortar shell landed near Israel’s border in a designated “buffer zone” adjacent to the eastern part of the security fence.

The errant fire that fell east of Israel’s security fence was a result of spillover from internal fighting between the Syrian regime and rebels.

Syrian praises Israel’s “noble stance” for rendering aid to suffering refugees

Amid the fierce fighting around the city of Daraa, that has forced the exodus of thousands of forlorn Syrian escapees, one refugee was openly praising Israel’s “noble stance” for the succor it was providing the suffering homeless, after Jordan closed its borders.

UNSC calls for all armed groups to leave Syria’s Golan ‘area of separation’

The UN Security Council’s renewal of UN’s 1974 ceasefire resolution for the Golan Heights calls for Syrian regime military as well as opposition forces to cease fighting and immediately retreat from the Golan Heights.

The UN Security Council on Friday unanimously renewed for six months its mission to observe the ceasefire in the Golan Heights, calling for armed groups to leave the Syria-Israel border area.

UNDOF, which comprises nearly a thousand personnel, was created in 1974 after an agreement on the departure of Israeli and Syrian forces from Golan.

Syrian Refugees Seeking Safety By Migrating to Israel’s Border

No longer believing that the Israelis are the bloodthirsty and merciless enemy, fleeing Syrian civilians are escaping the regime’s latest bombardments by seeking a safe-haven along side Israel’s Golan Heights.

Syrian civilians fleeing a fresh military offensive by their own government and its Russian allies have begun massing on the border of Israel’s Golan Heights.

They say that being as close as possible to Israeli forces is the safest place to be, presumably because Syrian dictator Bashar Assad and Russia are wary of drawing Israel further into the country’s bloody civil war.

Syrian NGO: Iran, Hezbollah troops preparing to withdraw from southern Syria

Just a day after Russian FM Sergei Lavrov said that Iranian and allied forces should withdraw from the Southern Syria “soon,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported [Thursday] that Iran & Hezbollah are preparing to withdraw their troops from Syrian areas close to the Israeli border.

Russia’s defense ministry said on Thursday that Syria had shot down more than half of the missiles fired at it overnight by Israel, RIA news agency reported.According to the report, the Israeli strike was carried out by 28 planes which fired at least 60 missiles, including 10 surface-to-surface missiles.
