Alleged pre-emptive strike by Israel on Syrian base kills 8 Iranians

After a multitude of Iranian threats directed at Israel, Israel’s Transportation and Intelligence Minister said, “Only strikes now, today, could prevent violence and wars tomorrow.”

The death toll of a suspected Israeli strike on the outskirts of Damascus has risen to 15 non-Syrian pro-regime fighters, including eight Iranians, a Britain-based war monitor said Wednesday.

The strike hit a weapons depot of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards in the area of Kisweh south of the capital late Tuesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said.

Reports cited by Israeli media outlets said that the targets of the strikes were Iranian missiles trained on Israel.

The IDF went on high alert for a possible flare-up with neighboring Syria on Tuesday as US President Donald Trump announced he was withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran.

IDF retaliatory strike destroys Syrian mortar position that fired on Israel

After the IDF response to the Syrian mortar fired on Israel, an Army spokesperson said, “The IDF views the Syrian regime as responsible for everything in its territory and will not tolerate any attempt to harm the sovereignty of the State of Israel and the security of its residents.”

The IDF fired on a Syrian-regime position after a mortar shell landed near the security fence on the northern Golan Heights on Monday, the army announced.

The shell, which hit Israeli territory, is believed to be spillover from fighting across the border in Syria.

In a major flare up on Israel’s northern border, Israel carried out a large-scale attack against Syrian air defenses and Iranian targets in the war-torn country after an Israeli F-16 crashed during operations to strike Iranian targets in Syria early Saturday morning.

The operation, which was carried out by eight Israeli jets, struck 12 targets in Syria including thee Syrians SA5 and SA17 air defense batteries and four Iranian targets near the town of Kiswah, which is home to Syria’s 1st armored division and part of the Islamic Republic’s buildup in Syria. An IDF tank fired another warning shot on a Syrian military position Sunday evening in the northern Golan Heights, a day after another tank opened fire near the Druze village of Hader in Syria as Israel discovered the Syrian army was conducting construction along their border.

IDF hits Syria hard, destroys multiple artillery positions after firing on Israel

IDF retaliates after errant Syrian projectile lands in Golan Heights

Having identified the source of the stray fire on Israel, the IDF retaliated holding the Syrian government responsible for attacks from its territory.

IDF Druze medic greets wounded Syrian civilians in Arabic, ‘we’re here to help you’

Druze Israeli Staff Sgt. ‘A’ from southern Israel, who’s currently serving as a medic in the Golan Heights says he sees “the fear in the eyes” of the wounded Syrians as they cross the border to Israel, so he comforts them, saying in Arabic, “Hi, my medical team and I are here to help you.”

REPORT: Moscow rejected Israel’s call for wide buffer zone in Syria distancing Iranian forces

Syrian rebel fighters return ‘lost’ Vulture to Israel

Spurred by the intervention of local animal activists as an expression of gratitude for Israel’s humanitarian efforts on its border, one of the Golan Heights’ few remaining vultures was caught, having been injured, and returned to Israel by local Syrian rebels.

One of the few vultures still remaining in the Golan Heights Gamla Nature Reserve flew over the border to Syria recently before being captured by one of the rebel organizations fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who returned it home Tuesday.
