Israeli University develops technology turning human waste into biofuel

Providing solutions to two growing environmental problems, sanitation and clean energy, researchers at Ben-Gurion University in southern Israel have permuted reusable fuel and a nutrient-rich fertilizer from human excrement.

Just in time for World Toilet Day (November 19), Ben-Gurion University of the Negev publicized results of a pilot study demonstrating that raw human excrement potentially can be converted into a safe, reusable fuel and nutrient-rich fertilizer.

According to the groundbreaking study published recently in the Journal of Cleaner Production, researchers at the Ben-Gurion University Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research refined a process using hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) to heat solid human waste in a special “pressure cooker” to create hydrochar, a safe, reusable biomass fuel resembling charcoal. PA infuriated over Israel’s plans to upgrade cellular reception

Abbas’ PA in a panic to file complaints against Israel within the international community after learning of Israel’s Ministry of Communications’ intention to expand and upgrade mobile-phone access throughout Judea and Samaria.

The Palestinian Authority will send memos to international institutions in response to the announcement by the Israeli Ministry of Communications of its intention to invest 40 million shekels in expanding the cellular coverage of the Israeli communications companies in Judea and Samaria.

Israel builds counter-terrorism maritime barrier between Israel and Gaza

The Israeli Navy installed a sensor system that detects and warns against infiltration attempts into the counter-terrorism maritime barrier, so Israel’s Defense Minister admits, ‘Every day, Hamas is losing its capability to attack Israel.’

Significant progress in the barrier project against infiltrations from the Gaza Strip has been reported on Sunday. New images and videos show a new breakwater structure, with a high fence surrounding it, and an advanced detection system.

The construction is expected to be completed within a year and a half.

Israel’s SpaceIL spacecraft scheduled to land on moon by early 2019

Israel to become 4th country to launch spacecraft with moon landing.
– SpaceIL’s CEO, “The spot chosen is relatively flat and the spacecraft will have eye contact with the Earth … Once the spacecraft reaches the landing point, it becomes completely autonomous.”

The Israeli organization SpaceIL and the state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced at a press conference Tuesday that it hopes to become the first non-governmental Israeli entity to land a spacecraft on the moon.

The spacecraft will be transferred to the US in November, before being launched in December, and plans are in place to land on the moon on February 13, 2019. Continue Reading »

Video: Israel introduces technological break through in electric cars

Phinergy drives their car by metal, air, and water, with the developers wanting the cost of their aluminum-air batteries to have a price equal to or less than gas, with their ultimate goal of being 100% petroleum free and with zero emission.

Phinergy is an Israeli start-up company, partnered with the aluminum giant Alcoa, specializing in hybrid lithium-ion and aluminum-air/zinc-air battery systems for electric vehicles.

The company was founded in 2008 by Aviv Tzidon of Tel Aviv, who also acts as the CEO of the company, based on technology originating at Bar Ilan University.

Phinergy has patented a “nano-porous silver-based catalyst”, which allows oxygen into the electrode and the cell while at the same time blocking carbon dioxide. Continue Reading »

Israeli & Czech Aerospace giants join to produce superior fighter jet

Vidochody, the largest Czech aircraft manufacturer and Israel Aerospace Industries will integrate latest state-of-the-art avionics, advanced tracking electronics along with ‘other solutions’ on the L-159 platform to turn it into a superior light fighter aircraft.

Czech Republic-based Aero Vodochody and Israel Aerospace Industries have signed a partnership agreement to develop and market an advanced version of the L-159 trainer and light attack aircraft.

Vidochody, the largest Czech aircraft manufacturer and IAI will integrate new state-of-the-art avionics and other solutions on the L-159 platform and will jointly market the aircraft. ‘Made in Israel’ Anti-Radiation Vest to be Tested by NASA In Deep Space

 

NASA plans to use Israeli firm’s StemRad’s upper-body vest, that protects vital organs, bone marrow & tissues that are especially sensitive to radiation, in future manned missions to space.

The Israel Space Agency (ISA) announced on Tuesday that it is entering an agreement with NASA to test a radiation suit manufactured by Israeli company StemRad Ltd. during a deep space mission. The agreement is scheduled to be signed at the 34th Space Symposium in Colorado later that day.

Dubbed AstroRad, the vest-like suit, first adapted for female astronauts, protects vital body organs and tissues which are especially sensitive to radiation damage such as lungs, bone marrow, the large intestine, the chest and the ovaries, the agency said in a statement. Continue Reading »

Britain Buys Iron Dome Advanced Technology to Protect Falkland Islands

Rafael’s advanced technology, used in the Israeli-made Iron Dome missile defense system, has been acquired by Great Britain for NIS 365 million (£78 million) to defend the Falkland Islands from possible Argentinian aggression.

Britain purchased advanced technology used in the Iron Dome missile defense system from Israel for 78 million pounds (365 million shekels) to defend the Falkland Islands, a British Overseas Territory.

Israeli border technicians prevent smuggling tons of explosive materials into Gaza

Since the new joint project between Israel’s Crossing Authority, Shin Bet & Israel Police, the lab has identified substances which could be weaponized, literally preventing tons of explosive materials from reaching the Palestinian terror organizations in Gaza.

An attempt to smuggle tons of explosive material into the Gaza Strip has been thwarted by the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s Crossing Authority, it was announced on Wednesday.

The attempt was foiled thanks to a new, advanced chemistry laboratory that was set up in recent weeks at Israel’s Kerem Shalom crossing with Gaza.

New security lab identifies chemicals and other dangerous materials before they are transferred to Gaza.

Israel’s mini space lab arrives at International Space Station

Israel’s 5.1lb mini-lab developed by SpacePharm will be conducting its first experiments on living cells in microgravity environment, simulating body temperature, and will be controlled remotely from Earth.

An Israeli-developed, state-of-the-art space laboratory hosting four science experiments docked in the International Space Station Tuesday after a successful launch.

The space lab, built by Israeli company SpacePharma with the support of the Science Ministry’s Israel Space Agency,  is unique in that it requires no physical human contact, as it is controlled remotely by researchers on Earth.

Three and a half years since the last naval incursion into the Zikim Beach just north of the Gaza Strip during the Operation Protective Edge, the IDF estimates that Hamas’ naval commando has improved dramatically and already includes hundreds of trained fighters equipped with advanced diving systems. Israel Shipyards launches OPV designed for Cyprus Navy

In a deal valued at tens of millions of Euros, Israel Shipyards is building a technologically advanced naval ship that will be delivered to Cyprus by the end of 2017.

Israel Shipyards has unveiled an offshore patrol vessel (OPV) designed and built for the Cypriot Navy. The project has been valued at tens of millions of Euros. The high-end vessel is slated to be delivered to the Cypriot Navy by the end of the year and integrated into the fleet patrolling Cyprus’ exclusive maritime economic zone.

In a statement released on Sunday, Israel Shipyards said the OPV, ordered in December 2015, was launched at a ceremony held last week at Israel Shipyards’ facility at Haifa Bay. Continue Reading »
