Photo Essay: More Pics of a Snowed in Jerusalem

This year’s snowstorm has brought both wonderment, smiles & plenty of damage. The following is both Arutz Sheva staff and reader submissions for Snowstorm 5774 (2013).

While children are out on the streets playing in the snow, others are surveying the damage caused by downed tree branches, downed power lines and other issues caused by the rare snow storm which has affected most of the county. Snow has hit Jerusalem, shutting down streets and cancelling buses. Snow has also hit northern Tzfat, Ariel, Gush Etzion, and other areas.

Chagall masterpiece among Munich stash believed looted from Latvian Jews by Nazis

A Marc Chagall masterpiece was identified in the art trove hidden in a Munich flat, was stolen by Nazis from a Latvian Jewish family.

BERLIN – A painting by Marc Chagall discovered in a sensational art trove found in Munich is believed to have been looted by the Nazis from a Latvian Jewish family.

According to the German newspaper Bild, evidence was uncovered that the painting from the collection hidden for decades by the reclusive Cornelius Gurlitt, 80, may have been looted during the Nazi invasion of the former Soviet Union in 1941.

Jerusalem’s Mayor Asks IDF & Police to Extricate Stranded Drivers

Mayor Barkat enlists the IDF & Israel Police to assist the many drivers & cars that have been caught stranded due to the ice & snow.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat has enlisted the IDF and the Israel Police to help out the many drivers who have been stranded on the city’s roads because of the snow.

On Thursday night, after the snowstorm which hit the capital caused many road closures and traffic jams, Barkat contacted IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and the head of the Jerusalem District of the Israel Police, Yossi Pariente, and asked them to help clear the roads of stranded cars and people. Hamas Minister: Israel Engineering an Earthquake to Attack Al-Aqsa

Hamas Minister of Religious Affairs warns the Muslim world that Israel is trying to collapse Al-Aqsa Mosque with ‘artificial earthquake’ as a reason to build third Temple.

Ismail Radwan, Minister of Religious Affairs in Gaza’s Hamas government, claims that Israel is trying to cause an artificial earthquake to totally collapse the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. According to Radwan, Israel is attempting to do so to establish the Third Temple.

The comments came at an event organized by female students of the College for Professional Applied Sciences. Israel admitted into CERN, 1st non-European country to be accepted

 

20-state council of the Center of European Nuclear Research (CERN), which proved the existence of the ‘God particle,’unanimously voted to accept Israel.

 

 

 

The 20-state council of CERN, the Center of European Nuclear Research that operates the Large Hadron Collider under the Swiss-French border, unanimously voted on Thursday night to accept Israel as a full member of the important scientific organization.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman warmly welcomed the decision, saying it was a “proud day for Israeli science.”  He said that the decision to accept Israel was not only an achievement for Israeli scientists, who have brought honor to the country, but also for the Foreign Ministry, which he said worked for years to pave the way for Israel’s acceptance by CERN.

Rock-throwing terrorists face 4 serious charges in court

Stanley Fischer, the former Bank of Israel governor, who’s a dual Israeli-U.S. citizen, has been asked by the Obama administration to become Janet Yellen’s deputy head of the Federal Reserve Bank, when she takes over as chief.

Dutch ambassador summon to Foreign Ministry to explain ‘pro-boycott atmosphere’ in Holland

Official protest over “ambiguous” remarks by Dutch gov’t comes day after Holland’s water-giant, Vitens, terminated  cooperation agreement with Mekorot, Israel’s water corporation.

 

 

 

The Foreign Ministry summoned Dutch Ambassador Casper Veldkamp to protest what it said were “ambiguous” statements by the Dutch Foreign Ministry creating a pro-boycott atmosphere of Israel in the Netherlands, on Wednesday.

The protest came a day after the Dutch water-giant, Vitens, canceled cooperation with Israel’s water corporation Mekorot because of alleged infractions of international law.

Shot Fired on IDF patrol on Lebanese border

 

No injuries or damage were reported as shot dirested at IDF troops patrolling border near Metulah.

IDF estimates teen-hunters from Lebanon’s side of border misfired weapons.

An IDF force patrolling the Lebanese border came under fire on Thursday. No injuries or damage were reported. It is estimated fire was opened by teen-hunters on the other side of the border. The troops fired back two bullets to the source of the fire.

Former US envoy to the UN, Bill Richardson petitions Obama for Pollard’s release

Former governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson, who also served as the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., called for jailed Israeli Jonathan Pollard, to be released immediately.

WASHINGTON – Bill Richardson, the former U.N. ambassador known for his efforts to release American captives overseas, called on President Obama to free Jonathan Pollard immediately.

In a Dec. 10 letter to Obama, whom he endorsed after dropping out of the 2008 presidential race, Richardson noted that an increasing number of figures involved in government when Pollard was given a 1987 life sentence for spying for Israel now believe his sentence should be commuted.
