Denied parole: Imprisoned Israeli-Arab parliamentarian for aiding terrorists

Israel Prison Service Parole Board: Former Joint Arab List MK Basel Ghattas, who is serving a 2-year sentence for smuggling cellphones to incarcerated Palestinian security offenders, did not express any remorse for ‎his actions, which could have seriously affected Israel’s security.

The Israel Prison Service Parole Board on Tuesday ‎‎denied an appeal for early release by former Joint Arab List MK ‎‎Basel Ghattas,‎ saying he has expressed no remorse for ‎‎his crimes. ‎

Ghattas is serving a two-year sentence for smuggling ‎cellphones and other materials to ‎Palestinian ‎security prisoners. He is serving his sentence ‎in ‎ Eshel Prison, near Beersheba.‎ Continue Reading »

U.S. Dept of State blacklists Nasrallah’s son as “Global Terrorist”

The U.S. Dept of State has designated Hezbollah leader’s son, Jawad Nasrallah and the Al-Mujahidin Brigades as “Specially Designated Global Terrorists” which imposes sanctions on foreign persons who have committed acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S.

The US State Department on Tuesday designated Jawad Nasrallah, son of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, a terrorist and accused him of carrying out attacks against Israel, Reuters reported.

The State Department also blacklisted Al-Mujahidin Brigades (AMB), which it said had links to Hezbollah and had plotted a number of attacks against Israeli targets from a base in Palestinian Authority-assigned areas of Judea and Samaria. Continue Reading »

Another rocket hit an Israeli bus carrying Israel Defense Forces soldiers, leaving a 19-year-old in critical condition.

Israel to award housing grants to Lebanese soldiers who fought alongside IDF

In the coming days Israel’s government will vote on providing grants of up to $136,000 to the veterans of the South Lebanon Army [who fled to ‎Israel during the May 2000 withdrawal], in recognition of their courageous contributions to past IDF operations in Lebanon.

Veterans of the South Lebanon Army who reside in ‎Israel will soon become eligible for substantial ‎housing assistance, in recognition of their contribution to ‎IDF operations in southern Lebanon prior to the military’s ‎withdrawal from the region in May 2000.‎

Former Head of Mossad joins ranks at private Israeli intel firm, Black Cube

Having been embarrassingly outed in a few past operations, Ephraim Halevy, who headed the Mossad, is being recruited by the private Israeli intelligence firm to help screen potential clients as to prevent further scandals for the company.

Former Mossad chief Efraim Halevy will be joining Israeli private intelligence firm Black Cube, which has been mired in international scandals.

Halevy will sit on the company’s board of directors, head its client screening committee, and serve as a senior adviser on operational and intelligence issues, a source told Yedioth Ahronoth.

An IDF soldier from an elite unit was killed on Sunday night during an operation in the Gaza Strip.

Another soldier was injured and evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. Their families have been notified.

Israelis send wheelchairs to 270 disabled Guatemalan kids

Before Guatemala, thousands of the inexpensive and specially designed wheelchairs have been provided in the past few years to the children of 17 developing countries, with funding from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ MASHAV Agency for Int’l Development Cooperation.

With Oslo essentially dead, Israel legalizes and populates Amichai

The new settlement Amichai, the first in the 25 years after the Oslo Accords, is being built for families evacuated from the illegal outpost Amona, and the nearby outposts that will be annexed to it.

The Shiloh Valley in the Samaria region spreads from Shvut Rahel to the Jordan Rift Valley. The entire area is covered with Cabernet grape vineyards and olive groves. On the hills above them are the outposts Ahiya, Kida, Esh Kodesh, and Adei Ad—all of which were illegally built, with demolition orders issued to all homes and structures.

Amona residents evacuate their homes, their settlement and will eventually be relocated to Amichai.

Bahrain Officially Invites Israel’s Economy Minister to Startup Conference

This latest invitation by Bahrain follows other Gulf visits such as Israel’s PM Netanyahu’s trip to Oman, Israel’s Culture Minister Miri Regev and then last week Communications Minister Ayoub Kara, both to Abu Dhabi.

Senior government officials from all over the world are expected to attend the conference to identify new policy tools that will boost technology initiatives between the two countries.
